Re: colic?! help!

  • I know this is an odd suggestion, but try holding her and turning on the hair dryer. Someone told me that one, and it really works for our little guy when he is fussy for seemingly no reason. We also swaddle and then put in the swing on high in dire times. Not sure either will work for you but doesn't hurt to try. GL!

  • sounds like my first.  there was nothing wrong with her, she was just miserable.  I tried the elimination (desperation) diet at a few months and still no change.  I found that she cried less when we were out so we went out a lot.  I also carried her around in the sling all the time until about 7 months when she calmed down.

If you need to vent message me, I've been through it.   I'm not on every day anymore, but I'll try to get back to you ASAP.

  • If you are sure LO has enough food, and is dry I'd recommend the five S's from Happiest Baby on the Block.  Good luck!  My niece was colic and BIL and IL had a very rough first 4 months.
  • We experienced colic on day 3 home from the hospital.  Turns out I ate everything under the sun (pasta, red sauce, dark chocolate, etc...) that would hurt a developing baby's tummy which = colic.  Dorian screamed for 5 hours straight while I cried. So I called a girlfriend who has 3 kids of her own and she recommended a homeopathic remedy that is only sold at CVS Drugstore (hopefully you have one in our area?).  It is called Colic Calm and works wonders!!!!  I don't know why nobody told me about this stuff PRIOR to delivery.  It is FDA approved and pediatrician approved.  Try it...I give D a dose every evening.
  • I don't really have any advice, but the same thing happened to our little guy.  He is just over 7 weeks now and things are finally getting better.  Our pediatrician said he just has an immature digestive system and we have to wait it out. We tried the gas drops and the gripe water, but neither seemed to work.  Our son loves being swaddled, so we just do that and bounce him on an exercise ball (saves the legs from walking up and down the stairs a million times).  We also pull his legs up against his tummy and he lets out lots of the gas, which seems to provide a little relief. He still has some moments when he is not consolable and screams, but they are getting fewer each day -- good luck... I hear it gets better :)
