  Dec 31 and there's a no-exceptions policy. If you try to red shirt because you feel your child isn't ready for K a 4.5 and try to enroll the next year the district automatically enrolls the child in 1st grade.

  Here in California, they have to be 5 on or before Dec 2nd.

  Dec. 2, but the state is gradually moving this up so that in I think 3 years it will be sometime in september. DD will start K 3 days after she turns 5. This topic usually comes around to redshirting, and after talking to some moms IRL, none of them are redshirting their 4 year olds.

  Sept 30 here so DD just misses the cutoff for this year since she's also an Oct baby. She'll turn 6 shortly after starting kindergarten next year.
