2nd cycle off pill-what to expect?

Hi everyone,

Was just recommended to this board by a friend. Wanted some insight so I can stop googling for answers!

I went off the pill back in March (after 14 years of being on it), had a 108 day cycle (O on cd98) and am on now on CD2. Should I expect my second cycle to be just as long or do they normally get shorter as your body is getting back to normal after being on the pill? Does anyone have any experience with this?

    Most women get more regular the longer they have been off the pill but some women take a little longer to regulate. I hope this is a (closer to) normal cycle for you and good luck!

    I didn't have this experience after bcp but I do know that your cycles can be crazy unpredictable after birth control, especially if you were on it for a long time. It can take some time (several months) for your body to get back to normal.

    I'd say start temping if you haven't already and sign up on Fertility Friend (click the link in anyone's signature - mine is blue with stars) so we can help you during your cycle.

    I hope your next cycle is more predictable and that your stay here is short and sweet!

    Also - did you talk to your doctor about your 100+ day cycle?

    I don't think anyone can answer that question b/c everyone is so different. I am also on my second cycle and took my last BCP in early May.

    I think you have the right idea temping and using FF. Regardless of the length of cycle, I think it is less frustrating knowing what is going on.

    I didn't have a long cycle coming off BCP, but my gut says that if you go 60 days without a period then call your doctor.  Hopefully your next cycle won't be so long, but I don't think there really is any way to predict this.  GL!

    I'm also on my 2nd cycle after 14 years on BCP Big Smile.  I didn't get AF after I stopped taking pills in May, but had symptoms that I may have ovulated and ended up getting AF Sunday.  I'm curious to see what will happen this cycle!

    It is normal for things to be off after being on BCP for a while, so hopefully things will get shorter for you.  Welcome to the board!

    I was on the pill for 8 years...my first cycle off the pill was 29 days, second cycle was 41 days...so hopefully yours will be shorter though!
