I had a scheduled c-section for Monday, 6/27. We arrived at the hospital at 6am for our 8am surgery, and everything was on-time. I was very nervous, but it was all over so fast. The spinal stung a bit, but not terrible. I started to get numb before he was even done! I could feel them put the catheter in, but although I was aware of it there was no pain. They started the surgery and I didn't even know they started. It took longer than I had expected, but it turns out I had a very large blood vessel covering my uterus, which meant more blood loss. Baby Gabriella was born at 8:33am weighing a whopping 8lbs 4.5oz., which is more than anyone expected!!
I wanted to let anyone who is having a c/s know that my recovery has been awesome. Granted I'm only on day 2, but I've declined all pain meds except Motrin and have already taken several walks around the unit. I showered today, and even had my first poop tonight and it was totally pain free! My tummy does hurt, especially where the incision is, but my only issues are when I get in and out of bed, otherwise I feel pretty damn good. Its definitely true what people say - the end product is totally worth it!
