What is the oddest/funniest old wives tale you have heard?
There are often questions on here about whether or not [insert old wives tale] is a good way to predict gender. So I am wondering, what are the oddest, funniest, scariest etc tale you have heard?
I heard that if your hair looks scraggily and you skin is a mess it is a girl because a girl takes all of the mothers beauty for herself.

If this wives tale were true I must be having girl because my skin is for sure a MESS! lol
This one doesn't have to do with gender. When I was pregnant with my first, some random lady told me I better not be having sex. When I asked why, she replied "If you have sex while pregnant your baby will be born with a beard".
Gender one: If you are clumsy during pregnancy, expect a boy.
It was something about the way the baby was positioned (high or low). Meh, I can't even remember.
We (well, DH mainly) really wanted a boy when I was pg w/ Buggie. I was like 15 weeks along, & we went to a children's bday party. I had one glass of iced tea, & my BFF's MIL told me that caffeine makes girls. WTF?
The heart rate vs gender OWT never seems to die.
If you lift your arms above your head, the cord will wrap around the baby's neck. It's so stupid. I can't figure out why anyone would fall for that. If someone told me that I would laugh in their face.

Though it's worded like an OWT, I do think there's some merit here. I know I looked WAY better when I was pg with my DS. My face was so broken out with DD, and so amazing looking with DS. That's actually why I kinda think this is a girl, because I'm broken out again. My hair was awesome both times- I think that's bc of my prenatal vitamins though, lol.
If not inducing labor, at least a trip to the ER.
I never knew how many things could cause speckled bearded babies!
Well, I guess my 4 yr old is really a girl then, I had terrible complexion issues with him.
The whole color of urine one: whether it is dull yellow or bright yellow? Um... that would be because you are hydrated or not. If its bright yellow, either you just took your prenatal vitamin or you need more water.
I've heard two about indigestion:
The more indigestion you have, the more hair you have
and
being really sick (puking and bad indigestion) means its a girl.
I don't believe either of them.
I heard that if you pee on drano and it turns pink/red it's a girl, if it turns blue/green it's a boy. LOL!
I was also told by the same person about not raising your arms above your head because of the chord wrapping around the baby's neck. She had 4 pregnancies and her mother and grandmother told her about this, so she stuck with it! Haha!
