How often are you scheduling professional shots of your LO the first year?
I have a really nice PBK 12 month frame that I would love to fill up properly. 2 concerns though. 1) It will be expensive to do monthly professional portraits. 2) It won't look right if I don't do professional and have a mix of professional and snapshot pics.
What are you doing? Every month? 3 months? More? Less?
Re: First year portraits -- how often?
We did newborn, 3 months, 7 months, and then at 1 year. Almost every three months.
It's hard, they change so much every week!
i had newborn done by another photographer and im taking her monthly myself so i guess that doesnt help.
if i wasnt into photography myself - i would hire someone every 3 months. though a good photographer can get expensive too!
With our son, we took him every month for the first year to the Walmart picture me portrait studio to get the one pose special package. It was typically anywhere from $5.99 - $9.99 a month this way. We also joined their Smiles Club to get an extra free 8x10 each month. This way we had professional pics each month that really show how much he changed in the first year to put in the 12 month photo frame. We did buy larger packages for his 5 day pics, his 6 month ones and his 1 year but only because those were milestones that we wanted more poses for. Doing the same with our daughter who is 19 days old today.
It's a cheaper alternative to getting expensive photo shoots done at specialty baby photographer and the quality is really good too.
You can go to a photo studio in target every day for free if you wanted to, you only pay for the pics you like and they have coupons on the website that let you buy them for only $4.
Of course the quality isn't going to be the same as having a pro come to you...but IMO its worth a try.
