I know that an early sign of pregnancy is your temps not dropping during your LP. But when does that start being significant? In other words, it seems that having good, high temps 4-6 DPO wouldn't mean much of anything, even if you had been spiking before during that time, and that your temps wouldn't really matter until around 8-10 DPO and beyond. Am I right?
Thanks!
PS I promise I'm not asking if I'm pregnant. Especially since it's impossible to know 4DPO. I just find the process interesting and want to understand it better. Plus it gives me something else to obsess about during my 2WW and lets me feel like I'm doing something by temping. I *promise* to ask a stick if I'm pregnant. Promise.
ETA: I know that elevated temps aren't necessarily a sign of pregnancy (only a BFP is for sure), I was just saying that elevated temps later *can* be a sign, but it seems elevated temps earlier (say 4-6 DPO) *can't* be. Is that correct?
Also, numbers DPO given are assuming a typical 14-ish day LP (which I have had the two cycles I charted off BCP), obviously would have to be adjusted for longer or shorter LPs. Was just trying to clarify, not implying all cycles are identical.
Thanks!
Re: Temping question
The only thing I would add is that your temps can spike and you can have a real pretty chart and it can mean nothing. Relying on your temps, no matter how pretty they look, can be deceiving...unfortunately.
ETA: You can also have an "ugly" chart and get a BFP, so you never know.
It depends. You need to know how long your LP is first. For example, I have had an average 11 day LP. If I notice that at 9 or 10 DPO that my temps are dropping, I can assume that my period is coming. However last cycle, I didn't really have that much of a dip until after my period came. Some women don't have a temp drop until the day of or day after their period arrives, and some have it before.
After charting a few cycles, you will learn your pattern! Good luck!!

Personally, my temps stay elevated until 10-12 DPO, so only a BFP earlier than that OR elevated temps after that would give me hope.
Elevated temps at 4-8 DPO are normal and expected, since that's what shows that you ovulated...
Thank you! That's the info I was looking for, I *thought* that elevated temps up until implantation just indicated ovulation had occurred and could in no way mean anything, but I wanted to check. (And yes, I know, no way to know when implantation occurs until +HPT, all cycles are different, etc. I stalk a lot :-)
