So I had a pre-conception ob/gyn appointment on the 10th, got the greenlight, and commenced to baby-making right away.
Since then, every single twinge I've felt below my rib cage has caused "OHEMGEE I'm totally pregnant ohmahgawd wait calm down woman just wait but SQUUUEEEEE" eruptions. Never in my life have I spent so much time below-navel-gaving. Totally convinced myself that I was feeling all kinds of new sensations, little pangs, mild discomfort, etc. all of which equaled KTFU, even though I knew I was being ridiculous and didn't even mention them on 2WW as phantom symptoms.
Right. So the doc just called. All those phantom twinges and pangs and twitches? Real enough. Not, however, b/c i am pregnant but because I have an INFECTION. Dumbasss.
Three weeks of determined focus on my reproductive organs, poking at my cervix and examining mucus and that one just flew RIGHT over my head. I thought I was just sore from the sexathon. Doh!
Soooo . . . now I'm waiting for AF to show up so I can go get medicated, b/c the doc doesn't want to give me anything yet in case i am actually KU b/c you can't take the best meds during 1st tri.
Lesson learned: not that there was any doubt, but I'm absolutely not immune to "seeing what you want to see" syndrome.
Now back to kicking myself. Feel free to join in.
Re: Full Disclosure: I am a Moron
Oh gosh that's awful, I'm so sorry!! I hope you can get cleared again soon so you can get back at it
Don't feel bad, this is totally something I would have done too.
Me: 30, DH: 33 Married 8/3/08
BFP 7/16/2012 (8th cycle), EDD 3/27/2012, Delivered 3/24/2013 - IT'S A BOY!
I have been so paranoid about this I think I have developed a bit of hand-washing OCD...
Hopefully you are KU and will soon know that the twinges very real and can stop all the CM, CP inspections
Awww, thanks for the well wishes instead of flames ladies.
In case it wasn't clear, the cervix poking didn't cause the infection: I had the infection when the doc did a pap back on the 10th, and the CM and CP inspections didn't start till after that. Don't want to cause any more anxiety in anyone on that front!
Bwahahaha! Man, that is EXACTLY what I would have done if I had had an infection my first month TTC, too. Or, you know, any month. Me: "Oooooh, new sensation! Do you think?...no, no, it couldn't be. Don't even mention it. But...oooh! there it is again!" repeat ad infinium.
Sorry about the infection, hope you're KU and you were feeling BOTH! :-D
This is so me lately. Annoying, isn't it?
OP, hope AF arrives soon so you can kick your infection to the curb and get back to the sexathon

Yeah, you are totally not the only one. I can always convince myself I?m pregnant. I?m peeing a lot! (Well you just drank 20 oz. of Diet Coke.) I?m really tired! (You have a 3-year-old and you have to get up every day at 6 a.m., work all day, then chase him around all evening. Duh.) Good luck to you! Hope you get a clean bill of health soon.
