Fenugreek and weight loss

So this morning I got into my pre pregnancy jeans and they were big on me!  *yes yes flame away :)* and I couldn't figure out what I had done differently to lose the extra inches until I realized maybe it had something to do with the fenugreek I just started taking again.  So I googled it and lo and behold, it can help with weightloss!  Here are some other benefits of it that I found as well :) 

For skin infections
Its anti-inflammatory properties make it best home remedy for skin infection by decreasing pain, redness and swelling on the skin. Boils, eczema, sunburns, abscesses and gout skin diseases can be prevented with the help of these seeds. You can feel whiteness on the face as the Vitamin C is present in the seeds.

Useful for feeding women
Fenugreek Seeds act to increase the amount of milk, when it is taken by lactating women. Regular use of fenugreek seeds gives better result. No side effects are noted for baby or its mother. But in exceptional case, milk may come out with slight different taste. Some studies suggest that the ability of women to produce the milk can be raised by more than 500% after taking this seed.

Helps to make child birth easy
Uterine contractions can be stimulated by the fenugreek seeds which assist to induce childbirth. Pregnant women have to consult the doctor before using this remedy for inducing labor.

Aids to cure fever
Mix lemon and honey with fenugreek seed to make it home remedy for fever. Consume fenugreek seed with herbal tea or lemon juice for three times in a day to treat a fever. You can use fenugreek tea instead of green tea that is available at many health food stores.

Breast growth
Hormones of women can be balanced by consuming fenugreek in many teas and other products which gives ultimately result as a breast enlargement. 3g of fenugreek should be taken per day for breast growth so make these bitter seeds as a part of your regular diet.

Balance cholesterol level
Daily consumption of 2 ounces fenugreek seed for 24 weeks will reduce your cholesterol levels as well as 25% heart attack can be decreased. You can take it with water or by including it in the preparation of food.

For hair growth
Soak fenugreek seed in water for whole night. Crush it to make paste. Apply this paste on scalp and hair. Wash it after 20 minutes. It helps to prevent dandruff in hair and leave your hair with silky and shine. It also helps to increase the hair growth of men as well as women.

For better skin
Take one teaspoonful of fenugreek seeds and Simmer it in water. Now, soak it for sometime and then grind it in mixture. Add honey in this mixture to make it sweet. Consume it for twice in a day. This will help you to wash out waste products from body and ultimately it gives you better skin without toxins.

Get rid from constipation
Take few seeds with warm water before you go for sleep. Its high source of dietary fiber assists to prevent constipation. Respiratory congestion can be cleared with the help of herbal infusion. Besides, it is also known as powerful expectorant.

Helps in sexual relation
Component which mimics the activity of estrogen is called diogenin and fenugreek seeds are rich source of this substance therefore it increases the libido i.e. it increases sexual needs of men and women. It aids to cure premature ejaculation.

08/2014- miscarriage, second RE refuses to mark down in charts, switch again
03/2016- IUI #1, waiting for results on April 17

  • I just started taking fenugreek and have definitely noticed an increase in milk supply. I noticed it the very first day. Nice to know it has all these other benefits - thanks for posting.

  • Breast enlargement?! Really?! Count me in! I'm sick of looking like a 10 yr old girl on top! lol!
  • Just beware the blessed thistle (also for increasing milk) - it has the opposite effect and tends to make you super hungry.

    I'm on both and seem to not have super weight loss, or gain so I think they cancel each other out on this topic haha.

  • I just started fenugreek this morning.  Sorry for the TMI but I've already noticed the "loose stools" side effect. Maybe that will lead to some weight loss? lol.  We shall see...

    I've noticed this as well.  Be really careful not to take too much or you'll be REALLY miserable!!  I learned that the hard way lol!  But supposedly it also helps you lose weight because it helps to cut your fat cells up somehow too.  I couldn't find the article but I'll look for it harder later :)
