I love Elise... But that's going to be this baby's name so I'm biased ; ). My bff daughter is named Lucia (pronounced Lu-sha) and I just adore it!! Both are fabulous!

I like Lucia (Lu-cee-a or Lu-chee-a) a lot and if Lu-chee-a didn't rhyme with our Italian last name, it would be a contender.
Elise is also lovely.
To give my final answer, I'd need to know who you'll pronounce Lucia. I don't really think it is that big a deal that people may not pronounce Lucia the way you do when they first see it--they'll know after hearing it once.
We named our dd Lucia, after the reigon of Spain she was conceived in, so we say it the Spanish way Lu-see-ah, but we are italian so everyone says Lu-chea. Not a big deal to correct people but they always pronounce it wrong.
Re: Elise or Lucia?
I've decided there's not a lot of helpful people on this board. Maybe I'm just being tired & cranky... LOL.
My opinon is Elise. It's pretty. What's the middle name you have picked out?!
Elise.
I think they are both pretty but I like Elise better.
I also think its a classic name that even if people don't like it, they won't think its a bad name.

I was going to say the same thing.
I prefer Elise. Lots of people will mess up pronouncing Lucia. For her entire life she will have to explain to people how to say her name properly.
