f/u skull xray update

The ped just left me a message- they have reviewed B's skull xrays and want to make an appt for him to meet with their neurosurgeon.

I called back and had to leave a message because she was with a patient. After I hung up I just burst out crying. DH tried to comfort me by saying it's probably just a precaution but I am so upset. I don't know how serious this is...neurosurgeon just sounds scary... what could happen... what their big concerns are... I haven't put my phone down since I left the message and I really hope she calls me back asap.

Just needed to upset ramble...

*Everything is fine. His "plates" are closing at a normal rate and the shape looks normal. I guess it's just procedure that after a skull xray they have their neurosurgeon at Children's hospital check him out and review the xrays. We don't go until 8/8/11 so it can't be too big of a deal. Maybe the b!tch should have mentioned that in her message before I had a total breakdown imagining little B in skull surgery. Grrrr.

I'm sorry. I understand why you're so upset. I would be too. Think positive- it could just be precaution. Hopefully the office will call you back ASAP. I'll keep B (and you!) in my thoughts today.

I'm so sorry! I'm sure it's going to be fine. Both times L had his stomach issues he was seen by the surgery team because they are the most knowledgable. I'm sure it's just a precaution. Hang in there!

oh gosh, that is a terrible thing to leave in a message to a worried mom! Neurosurgeon sounds scary, but I'm sure it's just a precaution, and they are being extra thorough (which is good!)

Let's just hope the pedi wants to be thorough in sending you to the neurosurgeon. i would probably want someone other than a general practitioner looking at the issue anyway. Hope everything comes back good. I hear you how scary things can be though.

Aw, I hope you hear back soon. And like everyone else is saying, it is most likely precautionary. It can be so crazy-making when a dr leaves a message like that. Please keep us posted. Thoughts and prayers that this is nothing serious!

I would be scared too and I would be anxious waiting for the call back. I agree with PP- it could be just a precaution and I would try to keep that thought in your head.

I would send a letter to both the office manager and the doctor mentioning that they may want to think about what is being said when a message is left. There was no reason that you should have been put through that panic waiting to hear back.

I'm very glad that it's just a standard practice and not anything serious.

So sorry you had to go through that awful waiting period, but I'm glad things are looking well for B. I'd say something to your doctor when you meet with her so that maybe she'll mention to her staff about thinking first before leaving those kinds of messages.

Ugh, for once I am glad I worked all day and didn't get to read posts until you had already updated. I'm glad his plates are closing well. I don't even think I could have waited to cry until hanging up - I probably would have started as soon as the machine beeped and all they would have gotten was me crying.

Glad to hear that everything is ok. Sorry that you had to deal with the stress after that message. I hate when dr offices give you messages like that and make you worry for no reason.
