Wow what a whirlwind last 72 hours. Here are pics of little Miss Jessica born on June 27th at 4:12 pm vaginally. She came out 7 lbs 8 oz at 19 inches.
Quick labor story:
I've been quite vocal about wanting this baby out. I had an induction scheduled for Monday the 27th and waited anxiously all night Sunday for a phone call to come in. I, however, got 2 hours of sleep because my body was just acting "different". I was leaking yellow fluid everywhere (but still not AF). Cramps were a little more annoying and I just overall was uncomfortable. I got the call at 9:00 am and got there by 9:45 am. At my 11:00 am check my irregular contractions that have been 10 minutes apart for 4 weeks became 2-3 minutes apart really quick. The contractions felt like really bad burning menstrual cramps. I obviously was in labor and there was no need for pitocin or cervadil.
Then her heartrate dropped and all hell broke loose. I lost it and starting freaking out. Doctors and nurses were flying in and had me switching from side to side through contractions. My water broke. My contractions were now coming 30 seconds apart! I had a hard time even communicating I needed an epi. I came in at 1 cm and dilated to 7 cm in 3 hours. I was nearly taking my DH's hand off (DH was AMAZING). Her heartrate dropped 3 times which sent my blood pressure through the roof and made the contractions worse because I had to position myself whatever way the doctors kept telling me to move. Finally after those 2 hours of ridiculous pain and scares, I got my epi. The epi process was awful because my contractions were so close together. I was trying sooo hard to hold it together. I had a resident working with a doc on the epi and it was taking them too long as they worked through their "lesson". I was ready to kill somebody.
Epi = Fabulous. It was a-mazing.
After my epi, I was dilated from 7 cm to 10 cm in 1 hour. They let me labor down for about 15 minutes. Then I went to push. 10 minutes and she was out. What an amazing sensation it is to have all that baby out!
She did take a poopy in the womb, so I didn't get to see her as they were busy fixing her up. I tore very badly and had some extensive stitching done.
Recovery right now is eh - ok. The tear hurts super bad so I've been taking a lot of percocet/motrin. The icepacks were nice and now on the tucks pads. It helps to be more mobile rather than on my bum.
Breastfeeding? What can I say? It is not GREAT but it is not HORRIBLE. I am trying to stay as calm and patient as possible as she learns to latch. She loves sucking but only my nipple so she isn't getting much out of it. I'm not ready to throw in the towel yet. We'll see how I feel by the end of this week.
Other than that, the main things I learned from this process:
1. DH was a pain in the butt throughout this whole pregnancy, but he passed with flying colors during delivery and PP. He's a happy daddy and loves his LO.
2. I'd do this all again to get one of these little things Epi comes 1st though.
3. Belly bandit actually feels good!
Here she is!
