Toddlers: 24 Months+

how long does it actually take your 2 year old to fall asleep...

DS goes into bed around 7:45....he however rolls around, kicks around, talks etc. for a while in there. (He def. seems tired when it's bedtime)Sometimes up to 45 min. before he is asleep. This is all pretty new since he now wants to sleep with the door open and is crying a little at bedtime for me which he never did. Does your LO take this long to "settle down" in bed? I know all kids are different...maybe I should try putting him to bed a little later???

  • 45 minutes is pretty standard for us.  20 mins is a quick night... even though after reading books she whines that she wants to go to bed, she still takes forever to actually fall asleep!

  • On average 15 minutes. But we have our bad nights too every now and then, and it can take up to 45 minutes.
  • We have been having so many sleep issues lately.  He's scared of his room and has been sleeping in our room.  However if he's napped he's up forever and just wants to watch TV with us.  Lately he's been skipping a nap and it only takes 15 minutes or so.

  • about 5-10 minutes.

she just switched to the toddler bed and was having issues for a few nights, but we let her CIO a few nights ago and it sucked the first few nights, but now she's back to a few minutes of tossing and turning, but no crying.

  • Ha! Sometimes an hour. Since she's had her tonsils out she'll lay there & play & read quietly, etc. but before her surgery she would freak out.
  • When he was still napping, it was 45 minutes probably, but since then (Feb), he is anxious to get to sleep.  Sometimes I hear him for 10-15 minutes, but most of the time he is passed out in 5 or less.

  • I think typically 5 min or less.  My boy must be overtired!  (although I've always been like that too-I go to bed when I'm tired and then I'm out)

  • Not very long, I don't think (but we don't have a video monitor, so I'm not completely sure).  Anywhere from 1 minute - 20 minutes, I'd guess.

This exactly.  After I close her door I rarely hear a peep.  Every once in a while I hear her singing or talking a little but I don't think I have ever heard anything out of her room after 20 minutes.

  • My DS would be out in 10 or less before we switched him to a toddler bed, now it's anywhere from 15 minutes to 1.5 hours.... Last night he kept getting out of bed, turning on his closet light, and playing with his toys... It was 11pm before he finally fell asleep, and he was in bed by 9pm.  We had to put the baby gate up in his doorway shortly after switching to the toddler bed because he would not stay in his room.
