Angie is interested in sounding of letters and just started trying to sound out words. Can anyone suggest a very basic learning to read book? Or one that encourages sounding out very simple words & letter combinations? Or flash cards, videos etc - anything that will encourage her? Thanks!

Re: lookin for very basic learning to read/learn letters books.
While I haven't actually bought them yet, I was told by a school reading specialist that the Bob Books were great for teaching kids reading skills. They start from pre-reading/recognizing letters and sounds to more advanced skills.

omg this is what i was going to suggest! glad to hear that a professional recommends them. we LOVE them, we have the level one book set (from a church resale) and they're great. plus there is an iphone app that my DD loves. she is 2.5 and knows the letters and all sounds they make, and she might have some words, hard to tell. but i credit a TON of it to these books/app.
the entire set of Bobs Books is at Costco for only like $10 or something.
