TV is not a good babysitter for me

If I put anything besides a kid show on for DD (like sports or a few minutes of Seinfeld, the news, even a few minutes of "Cars" etc.) all DD does is ask "what's that mommy?"  "What's that man doing?"  "What those girls doing?" etc., etc.

I like that she's curious and all, but seriously, can't she just zone out for a few?

  • LOL I feel your pain, S does the same thing so I stopped even bothering!  The only thing I can get him to watch for any length of time is Barney or The Wiggles, BUT if they aren't on the screen he's asking where they are and saying he wants Barney/The Wiggles.  He doesn't get the concept that just b/c they're not on the screen at the moment, doesn't mean it's not the same show.

  • Here, too.  DD will zone out and go into a TV coma, DS runs circles around the room screaming about this or that and asking me a bajillion questions.  Not helpful.

  • not for us either...there is only 1 show that will hold the girls attention for more than 1 minute (they will actually sit and watch for 10-20 minutes) and it is this collection of xmas cartoons from the 1950s we found on netflix...seriousluy - who knew....we save it for emergencies...
  • we actually tape episodes of her fav shows (Sesame Street and Super Why) and keep replaying those same episodes.  that seems to help, she asks less questions because she knows what will happen next.  maybe that will help?
