I'd like to get a DSLR camera to take some better quality photos now that we have DS! I'm a complete idiot when it comes to cameras...I know I want something with a point and shoot feel, but with better quality, features, etc. I'm sort of partial to Canon but will take any recommendations or tips! Also, any tips on what to look for or ask about is also appreciated! TIA.
Re: XP NBR: DSLR camera recommendations/tips
If you want something really simple I think the Nikon CoolPix is simple but just a step up from a regular digital camera.
I have a Nikon D3000 and love it but I am still trying to learn it after 3 months.
I just recently got the Canon Rebel XSi. It's great for what I need it to do right now. Learn. Learn. Learn! It's pretty easy to navigate and the kit lens is okay for right now.
I didn't want to spend a whole bunch of money on something I didn't know how to use right away.
We have a Nikon D40. It does fancy stuff (none of which do I know how to use), but is super easy to point and click, too, and takes great photos.
I just got the Nikon D3000 for mother's day. I am also still learning but I really do like the picture quality. I feel that they would be better if I could learn everything.
I just bought a nikon 3000 after tons of research. First off, I bought mine used on ebay. It's like 10 megapixels. And they still currenlty make them.
I was told by soooooo many not to go less than 10 megapixels....you could prob buy like a d40 or d50 but it's like 6 megapixels. They are obsolete.
They said canon rebels are comparison. I didn't know what to buy and the nikon 3000 seemed like a good beginners.
Good luck!
Also lots of stores offer classes periodically. Like Best buy.
Just received my Canon EOS Rebel T2i on Friday just in time for his baptism on Sunday. It is my first camera that is not point and shoot so I have zero experience but using it was so easy. I love it, it shoots multiple shots very fast and takes beautiful pictures. I probably took 500 photos this weekend and they came out great. The camera, case, 8 gig media card and a UV lenses protector was about $800 online from B&H photo in NYC with no tax and free shipping.
