Hi ladies,
I"m due in August and have started organizing the clothes we have gotten so far. I'm not sure if I have enough or two much or what not so I"m looking for any advice you might have. Here is my original post:
Has anyone found a good site or check list that shows how many of each size and type of clothing I will most likely need? Or any 2+ moms with any advice? I started going through all of the clothes we got this morning (new and hand me downs) and I know we have a lot, I"m just not sure if we have enough of each kind and each size and what not. I know its going to totally depend on how big my baby is and how fast he grows so lets assume he's average or small to start, so will need some newborn and then up from there.
Re: XP: expecting, need help with clothing sizes
I guess I would just wait and see.
My family seems to birth big babies and my husband is tall and broad-shouldered, so everyone said how big our baby would be. We have a little peanut who is just over 10 lbs. and almost 3 months old. She's long, but no where near growing out of her 3 month clothes.
You just never know, and since seasonality matters (she can't wear shorts in the fall), it might be easier just to get some basics, but not an entire wardrobe.

I agree with PP. We had so many newborn and 0-3 size stuff that she either only wore once, or never wore at all. DD was a small baby, but didn't really start wearing cute outfits until she was close to 8-9 weeks. After a while it was much easier to just run to Target and buy as we needed. It also served as a much needed "mommy time" break in those first few months.
My son is 5months and weights 13lbs 24in he wears 0-3 months still and some onesies are 3-6 months. I have a ton of onesies because he has ones to sleep in and ones as outfits.
NB- 15 onesies 10 outfits (pants/onesie)
0-3 25 onesies (10 are just white) 15 outfits
3-6 same as 0-3
I'm just saying how much we have NB, 0-3, and 3-6 we have some other sizes as well but not a ton. The more you have the less laundry you must do everyday because of spit up/poop leaks. Oh and we also have a ton of bibs because DS is a spitter

Here's what I do. I buy one size in advance, the boys are growing so fast that I can't accurately predict seasons so one size bigger then they need is great. I do have a collection of onesies and pjs in bigger sizes since they are appropriate for all seasons and I got them on super sale, I just wash them when we need to move up.
I do baby laundry 3 days a week minimum so they don't need nearly as many outfits as I would have thought before they came!
ETA I do all the laundry so frequently because they spit up on clothes, burpcloths, and blankets so often and it starts to smell quickly.
Yeah, it totally depends on how big your baby is at birth and THEN how fast they grow. I had an 8 lb, 3 oz little girl who wore newborn sizes for almost 10 weeks. She then hit a growth spurt and sped right through 0-3 in length, only wearing those for 3-4 weeks, and she's now pretty solidly in 3-6, although she has a skinny waist, so it kinda stinks finding her pants. Some of the 0-3 pants are still too big for in the waist yet.
All this to say, it very much just depends. I highly suggest getting a lot of mix-and-match type pieces (onesies and pants/shorts/skorts, etc.). Believe it or not, Wal-Mart has a lot of cute stuff, in both Garanimals and Faded Glory brands. Z wears that kind of stuff mostly, and footed sleepers at night. We also have a bunch of "cutesy" outfits and dresses, and she rarely has an occasion to wear them.
I'm not sure you can really plan it out. Bug was 5 weeks early and wore preemie size for a while. Now, only 4 months later, he wears 9 and 12 month items, and has jumped from 5th percentile to 71st percentile on the growth charts. You never really know... some sizes he was only in for literally two weeks.
If you end up with a baby that has a spit up issue (or likes to puke all the time like Bug), you do laundry daily because you have gone through all the flannels and blankets....
