Trying to Get Pregnant

questions about not ovulating?

So my biggest fear of this whole TTC is that I don't ovulate, I am not sure I ovulated last month, but since I had my crappy walgreens BBT I can't be sure. My OPKs have not shown a positive this month and I feel like I my fears will be truth.

How many cycles did you go with no temp shift or positive OPK before you spoke to your dr about it? Since DH and I just got married in may I don't go see my new obgyn until July 18th. I have not been on birth control so I am not waiting for my system to get normal from that. I think I worry since I am over weight I wont ovulate and it will be my fault. Please feel free to tell me I am crazy!!

  • I would chart consistently at least 4 months before saying anything to your DR.  You don't have to get a + OPK in order to O.  Your temps are much better to go by

This exactly. Plus, you may not O until later in your cycle than the "average" O date in a 28 day cycle. 2 cycles I didn't O until CD 24/25. So just keep monitoring yourself like KDG said.

  • I started charting in Jan, got a confirmed O on FF in Feb and then nothing. I had my yearly app at the gyno for a pap in June and broguht up being anov. My cycles were long (40-50+) days and my gyno told me I should have come in sooner.

My theory: if you think you have a problem, go get it checked out. You will be kicking yourself if you wait a long time. I know 'impatience isn't a fertility issue', but not ovulating certianly is.

    GL to you!

  • Thank you ladies, I am not doing very well at temping and I only have myself to blame! I will take your advice and stop worrying, and obsessing over it. I did take my temp this morning so thats a good start!

True, but without data/info, you won't know if you have a problem or not.  "Guessing/imaging/assuming a problem" isn't a fertility issue either.

OP--charting isn't that bad/hard once you get into the groove.  Good luck

Agreed. And, 'cuz I can't read, I didn't see before that she JUST started TTC. Your doc won't even be able to tell you much if you have no info to go off of...

  • I charted for 6 months before calling my doctor about anovulation. However, I only had 3 cycles in that time frame (my cycles have always been long and irregular.) My doctor told me to come in the next day. PPs are correct that no positive OPK does not always mean anovulation, it is more important to look for the temp shift. If you are anovulatory, your weight could be a factor, but it could be other things. I would spend some more time temping if I were you, and shedding as little as 5% of your weight can kick start ovulation.

Also, try not to stress about it too much (easier said than done I know!) There are a lot of women on this board who cannot O on their own (myself included) but there are many treatments available. For now try to follow a healthy diet, exercise regularly, and find a way to relieve stress like yoga or walking. Good luck!

Do you mean that you aren't temping regularly? If so, FF likely won't detect ovulation. I'm a horrible "temper" and FF tells me I O'd then it changes its mind.

  • No, I am trying to get in the hang of and routine of charting, this whole process just scares the tar out of me since its something I have no control over. Thanks all of you ladies for being so nice and not blowing me out of the water for all irrational thoughts!!

I think I just listened to my MIL to much when she came in this weekend, she was telling my I am getting up there and we need to get on the ball of baby making. I am 27, DH is 33, she has no clue that we are TTC. SHe likes to tell me DH had mumps when he was little and that he probably won't be able to have children, yeah I don't think she has ever had a DR tell her this she just makes it up in her mind. She thinks if I don't get PG now we won't have a chance at all, I need to slow down and not listen to the crazies!!

  • But really I think I am jumping the gun on the worrying. I was looking on wondfo tests and it said for 32 day cycle start testing on day 15, for a 30 day cycle start testing on day 12. My last cycle was 32 days so I am only 15 days now, therefore not far off the mark. My cycle before that was 30 days so I started testing earlier just in case. Ugh, I wish there was a green light that went off for go when it was the best days!!
