Trying to Get Pregnant

Can metallic taste be phantom?

I apologize in advance for my newness.  Sorry if this gets asked all the time, but everyone loves a clicky poll right?

I've had several symptoms that I have shrugged off as possible AF stuff. I am 11ish DPO (not totally positive when I Oed or what to count as day 1). I woke up this morning with this metallic taste in my mouth that I can't get rid of. At bootcamp this AM I could have spit coins. This is the first legit, undeniable symptom.

I've done extensive research and it sound like this is very typical of early pregnancy. What I don't see is how often it is a phantom symptom.

 So here's a clicky poll...

Re: Can metallic taste be phantom?

  • I've had it happen before, but I also have stomach issues. So I would more likely associate it to my stomach problems than pregnancy, but it does happen.

  • Basically anything that can be a pregnancy symptom, can be a phantom symptom. Your LP is driven by progesterone, and so is pregnancy, so you can have the same symptoms for both. GL.

  • I didnt vote for either, because I have never experienced this symptom with my pregnancies or AF.

  • Some women get nose bleeds during pregnancy which would definitely cause a metallic taste if some blood when down the back of your throat. That is the closest thing I can think of. I'm not telling you that you are pregnant, but it is a possibility.

  • Last cycle I had a metallic taste in my mouth & I wasn't pregnant. But I realized it came from a small cut in my mouth. I must have bit my cheek while sleeping and the taste just stuck in my mouth

Rats! Thanks for the info. I get it now. Three more days of waiting...tick, tick, tick.
