I may have posted about this before, but...in the last couple years or so, my cramps have gotten out of control - like to the point where I cannot do anything. I take midol or pamprin or similar, but I still huff just doing simple things (like brushing my teeth or getting dressed). I am pretty much bed ridden for two or three days around the start of my period. I never had cramps as a teenager or young adult. I remember having minor ones after Tillman was born, but they have gotten really severe lately.
So, I'm wondering if anyone knows if it is typical for them to get worse as one ages (I am 33), or if maybe I should see a doctor about it. My periods are very regular and not usually overly heavy. I am not on any kind of birth control.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Re: menstrual cramps
Im in the same boat, and take aleve... it used to be prescribed to me in HS before it was OTC. Dosage says take 1, but Ive always taken 2, with food and been fine.
But I would check with your GYN... especially if you have really heavy periods... the aleve can help with that too.
Same here. Aleve as a prescription saved me when I was younger. Now I'm not quite as bad. I would def see a doctor though b/c you might have endometriosis.
(all before baby)
I had a prescription for cataflam (diclofenac is the generic) and if I stayed on top of those every 8 hours I could function. Advil or aleve wasn't enough. The thermacare packs were wonderful too (as was heated car seats
) I also did progesterone cream through a natropath, which really helped regulate things. I could not do BC pills and didn't want to take the drug my previous gyn recommended.
I also think accupunture (which I was doing in conjuction with fertility treatments) was helping too.
I can relate and hope you get some relief. I would talk to your doc, and keep looking if you don't find answers - you shouldn't be in that much pain. If I remember right there was a highly recommended doc for endometriosis/pelvic pain in Federal Way but I don't remember her name. I can search if you want to find someone new.
