Trying to Get Pregnant

TTC- So frustrated!

I am 14 DPO... I have cramps and I am 99% sure I'm PG.  Every test I take says "nope..".

I had this problem with my First PG.    It took two weeks AFTER my missed period to get a positive.

ARGH!!!!!!!

Although everything I'm reading says "if you aren't testing + now... you're likely not PG..."

I just want to Be PG so I can stop stressing out about it and wasting money on tests!!!

any tips on what tests are more sensitive than others???

my chart is here; ignore temps.. I just put them in to figure out something...

if every test says nope.   It's more like 99% that it's a "nope" at this time

Because a baby is so much cheaper than a feww pregnancy tests. Good call. And charts are worthless if you ignore temps. And it sounds like you ovulate much later than you think you do if you were 2 weeks "late" before you tested positive.

    I agree.

  • No- I have periods like clockwork, and it was two weeks after my missed period that I tested and it finally came back positve.  Even DH thought about giving up on testing.

On my last pregnancy i ovulated on the 15th of april and didn't get a positive until Mothers day May 15 (2009)

It was really very annoying.  I wonder if I just don't produce a ton of the chemical needed?

I'm not giving up hope yet.  I have had a ton of CM the last week, and I wonder if I had a late cycle?  It would seem really weird to me if I had such a long cycle,  I'm normally pretty easy to predict.

I didn't make up the chart though, just the temps, I was trying to count out days from where I'm 99 percent sure I ovulated.

    1.  If you are testing negative you are either not pregnant or you ovulated late and you are not far enough along yet to test positive.'

    2. HPTs are less expensive than a child.  I would assume you already know that though.

    3. First Response are more sensitive than digis... that's all I've got for that one.

    4. Why are you putting in fake temps to figure something out?  It defeats the purpose of charting.

    5. Your clicky takes me to a picture of my chart.

I'm not sure why the cost of PG tests vs. the cost of a kid has really anything to do with this topic.  I was just venting that they are so expensive.. and yes I know they are cheaper than a kid.

    I don't understand.

To have a chart, you need to take daily temps.

If you don't have temps, you don't have a chart, so if you make up temps, logically you made up the chart...

Ok, if you aren't charting temps, you can't confirm ovulation. That's one mystery solved. You can have fertile CM for weeks before you O. It might explain the "late" positive HPTs.

Ok, please remember that you cannot confirm ovulation without charting your temps, or being monitored by a doctor.

As for the cost comparison... You were "venting" that you didn't want to spend money on expensive pregnancy tests, yet you want to be pregnant so badly.   I guess I don't understand how you don't see the point.  I am honestly not trying to be snarky.  I want to be pregnant very badly as well.  I don't mind spending money on pregnancy tests, OPKs and other things that hopefully aid in getting pregnant.  They seem so small in cost in the grand scheme of things.

Also, I am not saying that someone cannot get pregnant without charting.  That would be an asinine statement.

If you are so certain that you are pregnant, which if you do end up pregnant - congrats to you, why don't you call your doctor and ask for a beta?

Haha I know what you're saying. And I agree that if someone isn't willing to spend a few bucks on HPT's then they're going to be in for a shocker when thier baby goes through a case of diapers a week, or when they're 3 and want every toy in the store, or when they're 16 and want a car, or when they're 18 and want to go to college... oh the list goes on! haha. I guess you could say, you don't mind spending money on all the things that go along with TTC... not necessarily aid in getting KU.

    Yes

    Yes x 2

OP...you may "know" your body 100% and not know if/when you ovulate.  Temping is the only way to confirm you ovulated without being tested by a doctor.  Your body can gear up to ovulate (fertile CM, cramping, even + OPKs) and still not ovulate.  It's not that hard to take your temperature every morning.

  • I just wanted to add my 2 cents....Just because you have fertile CM doesn't mean you ovulated!!  If you look on my chart I had tons of fertile CM yet because I take my temperature everyday I noticed that I didn't ovulate.....probably because I started a new job and it's stressful.

But like PP's have said you're body can gear up to O and end up not O'ing at all....the ONLY way to know if you O is to temp or have a doctor do an U/S.   Also if you don't like the good advice these ladies are giving you then why did you even post on the board?

We're not going to be all puppies and rainbows and be like "squuuueeeee OMG the tests are wrong you have to be pregnant!!!!" We're going to tell you the truth, if you don't like the truth then I'm sorry that's an issue you need to talk to a therapist about.

Yes, thank you.  This is a much better way to say it!

  • So you're saying you don't get +HPT's until 28DPO? That makes no sense. And what use is charting if you don't pay attention to temps, that's the whole point.

  • So many things wrong with this whole post!  Your lack of knowledge is astounding.  Let me guess - You learned everything you need to know about your body and reproduction in 10th grade science class and wikipedia, right?

Yeah, just go with it.  Your gut is always right.  Women?s intuition will NEVER lead you astray.   You are pregnant. Congratulations.  You should go out and get a gender predictor kit also, but I would think that since you know your own body so well, you should be able to feel what the gender is. Best of luck sugar plum!

  • 1. Even the most regular women can have an off cycle now and again. I am super regular and had my longest cycle ever last cycle (in fact, I started AF at 15 DPO), so it happens.

    2. Like other people say, it is also completely possible for your body to gear up for O and then for nothing to happen.

    3. Wondfo ICs are ridiculously inexpensive and come in large quantities for just a few dollars. Many girls here also invest in dollar store tests, so they're not expensive unless you constantly buy digitals (which can be less sensitive than the ICs).

    4. Fudging with temps tells us nothing. If you aren't going to track them or throw some made up ones in to get your desired result, please don't bother asking people to chart stalk because it will do nothing but bring about snark. Many of us chart, but we understand that many many other women don't. We don't make anyone do it, but we can't tell you anything about a fabricated chart.

    5. If you are going to disregard everything we say and disagree with everyone, is there really a point in posting at all?

That being said, I hope you're knocked up or what not. But if not, there's always next cycle.

    Okay..

Well, I'm going to disagree that you can't confirm ovulation without temping.  I know my body pretty well and it's 100% obvious to me when I ovulate.

    Everyone's different.

I got pregnant before without temping and without charting and just following signs of my body.

Alright, I think my nice streak is about to end...

Ok, so if you know you ovulated, then at 14DPO you'd probably be getting a +HPT. Which means either your body isn't passing hcg through your urine. Which seems unlikely if you already have a child and you got +hpt's then. Or you're wrong about your O date. OR you're wrong about being pregnant.

And plenty of women get pregnant without charting, most of the women around the world actually. However, the only way (without the help of a doctor) to confirm ovulation is through temping. From the sound of this post, you don't know your body as well as you think since you either aren't pregnant or ovulated late.

And another thing, you can keep track of how long your cycle is on a calendar, you don't need to waste your time making up fake temps.

  • This post is giving me a headache. From the OP to the poster arguing about TTC aids. Tongue Tied

OP, if you are so sure you a pregnant, why are you posting here? Move on to 1st Tri and your Birth Month Board. Seeing as how you have been here for 2 years or so, I have a hard time believing you are that dumb. Bored maybe?

  • I can't decide which part of this thread is my favorite...there's so much WIN to choose from! On second thought, the broken link to OP's chart that actually links everyone to their most recent chart is pretty original. I'll go with that as my favorite part. Final answer.
