We think DD is ready and I am terrified. I know, stupid right. Her language and communication has taken off in the last 2 or do month, ever since she started daycare, and I'd telling us she has to potty. She actually wakes up dry most morning too. She does not fight diaper changes to diapering isn't a big deal. I think I am afraid that she will "fail" and get frustrated. Does that make sense? Since we have a long weekend I think we are going to go naked this weekend. Daycare has already been taking her to the potty with the other kids so they are going to just step it up. I foresee a kit of laundry in my future.
Sorry if this post is bolded I'm on my phone and it is being weird
Re: Confession: I am terrified of PTing
Don't be scared! I was terrified too with DD because everyone always tells you their horror stories.
My DD was the easiest kid to potty train ever. She only ever wet herself once and hated it so much she never did it again. She's almost 7 and has never even wet the bed.
If she's ready then follow her lead and she'll be there before you know it!

Just make it fun for her. It's something that she gets praise for and no negative consequences, so she won't get frustrated about "failing". Just keep it upbeat. When she pees on the floor, it's just "oops, pee pee goes in the potty, let's sit on the potty and see if you have any more pee ready to come out"
My friend gave me the best advice: wait until he's ready.
She has a daughter who is a year older than our son, and she spun her wheels on potty training early. She recommended we introduce it, but not push or get worked up about it. She said he would just be ready and do it.
For the most part that was true. It turned out to be easier and not very intense by just waiting for it to happen. We struggled a little on some days, but not nearly like we would if we had done it type A style.
Introduce and wait. 2.5 is a very good age to start giving more encouragement.
Now if only my husband would agree with me on this. He already bought a potty and I told him politely that Tyler is SO not ready for it and has shown zero interest in this.
It is put away in his closet since Tyler thinks it is toy until Christmas break when he will be 2 1/2.
