3rd Trimester

Has anyone here ever experienced this??

Hello everyone. I am 36 weeks pregnant and two weeks ago I started having this stretching pain on my right side upper abdomen area. It feels like its stretching and can't stretch anymore. Has anyone ever had something similar if so what did your doctor say it was? Now I practically have it everyday not all day it comes and goes. But when I have it boy does it hurt I can't even turn to the side or move fast because it makes the pain worse.

  • If you look at your stomach, does the right side (where it hurts) look like there's a baby that rolled there? With my 1st preg and with ths one, the baby seems to like sitting on my right side and it causes a lot of pain and discomfort.

  • Yes it looks like baby's butt is sitting there all the time now.  Maybe thats what it is.  I just kept thinking all kinds of other things like the placenta detaching or something else about to rupture!
  • My doctor told me when I hit around 26 weeks or so if I had any right sided pain that wouldn't go away after changing positions to call them right away.  You have a lot of organs on that side that could be a concern.  Might be a good idea to just call to see if they want you to swing by to get checked out.  I had pain that wouldn't go away and they wanted me to come in right away.  They test blood and urine, checked my bp and she felt around too.  She felt confident that my pain was caused by stretching of scar tissue (I had my gall bladder removed) since all my tests came back normal, but she was glad I called and came in.

  • A friend of mine had this issue late in pregnancy and she ended up having to be on a restricted diet because of gall bladder issues.  I would definitely call the doctor.

  • Yes, I just had that same pain a few days ago and I was almost in tears. My doctor said its normal. Just your body stretching to fit the growing baby. I have it from time to time still some times its light and others it will bring me to my knee. I just keep telling myself its almost over. : )
  • I have this but it's on the left side where my baby always kicks me (and has kicked me there ever since he was big enough for me to feel it). It feels like a REALLY bad sunburn. I asked my doctor and he said it's normal. I would definately ask yours though just to be sure. :)

I had the same problem. Coughing, sneezing, moving, getting up and down, opening doors, changing positions at night, even bending over to dry yourself off after a shower; I thought it was going to kill me. I called my doctor and they moved my appointment up and the doctor said the it was diastasis recti. My big scare was that I had a hernia - good thing it wasn't.

Over the last week mine seems to have went away for the most part, maybe because LO is dropping now. Good luck!
