Trying to Get Pregnant

EWCM after Temp Rise

Hi everyone,

I wanted to get some opinions as this is my first cycle charting.  According to my chart, I O'd on D13, however, I only had Watery CM for D12/D13.  I figured I just wasn't making enough EWCM to be noticeable; however, the past 3 days (since D14 until today D16) I've been seeing some EWCM.

I guess I'm confused and a little frustrated.  I'm not sure which I should be listening to... The temps or the CM?  I got a Walgreens BBT and I suppose it could just be inaccurate as some reviews I've read online have said.  I'm gonna order the one from Amazon that you all recommended for next cycle.

So according to my chart, when do you think I O'd?  Should I just ignore the temps and pay attention to the CM?

Thanks for the help!

Re: EWCM after Temp Rise

  • Are you post-pill?

It is not unusual for me to have 1 day of EWCM post-temp rise.  And I usually do rely on temps more than CM.  But looking at your chart I am not sure you've O'd yet.

Usually after "peak" day, even if you have some EWCM or creamy CM, you'll notice some kind of difference.  Not necessarily something you can put into words, but you will usually notice some kind of change right around your temperature rise.

I follow couple to couple league's method, and ovulation is not confirmed until you have at least 3 days of higher temperatures AND a change in cm.

  • Are you sure it was EWCM and not leftover semen?  If so, then I'm leaning towards you not ovulating yet.  Hopefully a few more days will paint a clearer picture.

  • I am in a similar boat. I had watery CM, with maybe a bit of EW, but was never sure enough to mark it, then after FF gave me dashed CH, I did for sure. This is my first cycle really charting so I may just be clueless.

I think as long as you have been using the same BBT and taking your temp at the same time daily, it should be ok. From what I understand, the bad BBT, gives 'favorite temps', which you don't appear to have.

I would never ignore temps. (unless you are not taking them at the same time or after you get up). They are the only way to know for sure if you did O. You can get fertile CM, +OPK, and still not O. The opposite also holds true. I find stalking charts on FF helps. Use the search function and search "pregnancy" - you will find quite a few charts that never recorded EWCM, (or recorded it after the fact) that ended with a BFP.

I personally am still questioning whether or not I did in fact O. Bottom line, I plan to keep up BD until I am convinced or FF changes my CH.

    GL! Hope this helped some...

This. I honestly don't think you've O'd yet and after a few more temps I wouldn't be surprised if FF moves your CHs.

I don't think that it was leftover semen by Monday but when I saw some on Tuesday I knew for sure it was EWCM (also because it was the color of egg white and not opaque..  obvious, I know).

I was giving it a second thought today, and I think O may have been delayed because I had a few stressful days last week: two job interviews within 48 hours.  I didn't feel that stressed but I know that O can be pretty sensitive at times.  That's just my best guess or I just never knew that I ovulated a little later than the classic CD14 in my cycle, considering it's only 28/29 days.

Hopefully I O tonight or tomorrow cuz we BD and that'd be pretty sweet timing!  :)

I am post pill as of April but I think I was just looking for O too soon perhaps.  FF had my projected O date CD14 but cuz I had a rise in my temp I was "positive" I had O'd on CD13.  However, after seeing an increase in EWCM over CD14-CD16 (and the complete lack thereof on CD12/13), you're probably right that I just hadn't O'd yet.

I think you had a good point about watching for the higher temps and change in cm - I'll look for it.  Thanks!
