Can anyone tell me the difference between the two? I hear a lot about Ferber, but honestly don't know much about his method or Weissbluth. I know Weissbluth wrote the book Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child, which I see around a lot. My dd is 3 1/2 mths and I'm looking at buying a sleeping training book to read before we implement. Also, when did you start any sleep training?
Re: Ferber vs. Weissbluth (Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child) method?
Weissenbluth is a more harsh approach to CIO than Ferber. He talks about elimination over a more gradual method. You can do a gradual CIO according to Weissbluth but he says it takes longer. Ferber's approach is about comforting them while teaching them to self soothe. So you go in and comfort at different time intervals. I have read them both and would suggest doing the same if you are interested in different approaches.
I've decided CIO is not for me. But if I did sleep train, it wouldn't be until DD was 7-9 months old and only as a last resort.
