Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Hi Ladies, I'm moving in!

Hi there,

My little girl will be three months on Friday, so I'm coming over here just a bit early.  I'm not sure how often I'll be posting, but I just wanted to introduce myself.

I have a question for the moms whose babies are slow to gain weight.  Here's the back story: I've been struggling to get my baby's weight up.  She was just shy of 7lbs at birth and barely 6lbs when we left the hospital.  Two weeks ago she was just shy of 9lbs.  I put in my time pumping around the clock, supplementing with formula and eating my weight in lactation cookies and was cleared two weeks ago to ebf without pumping.  I have to take her in for a weight check on Friday so we'll see where she's at.  My question is this: when did you stop worrying and what has your pedi said about your little baby?  I can't get free of the notion that a baby isn't healthy unless she's got fat rolls all over and sausage arms.

Thanks so much! Sorry this was so long!  Looking forward to participating on this board.

  • Welcome!  I have a sausage baby so I can't be of much help there, but I hope you get some good news at your weight check.

  • I have gotten to the point, that my mommy instincts let me know whats right and whats wrong. My son was at a healthy 14 1/2 lbs at his 4month apt. The dr said I was feeding him too much, and that he shouldnt be sleeping through the night yet. (He sleeps 12 hours a night). My kid is by no means chubby, (Check out siggy pic) and why in the world would I ever wake a sleepy baby? Clearly he's sleeping for a reason....

So, Im just doing my mommy thing, and I have a happy, healthy, thriving baby.

Not all babies are chubby. Do what you think is right for your child. Some babies are just smaller.

ETA: oh ya.. and Welcome! We have lots of fun over here!
