We gave up on using the little burp clothes entirely when DD was about 3 days old. She was such an epic spitter that we only used receiving blankets as burp clothes.
They are also nice to keep in the diaper bag to cover changing tables or use as a changing pad out in public.

I am using them as a changing pad as well. I have a smaller diaper bag and decided a "real" changing pad would take up too much space since I can fold the blankets smaller than the pad would be.
This is my first so I haven't gotten to that point yet but my cousin used hers for her son's nose. Kleenex can make your nose raw so she prefers to use the old receiving blankets since they are soft. It comes in really handy in the spring since her little guy has really bad allergies.
I keep an emergency diaper bag in my car (in case I forget the regular one, which happens more times than I'd like to admit) and I ALWAYS make sure there's a receiving blanket in there - they have so many uses:
- snuggle with if you forget a stuffed animal/lovey/pacifier
- keep warm if you forgot a coat
- throw over the stroller for impromptu sunshade
- burp rag
- changing pad
- somewhere to lay a little (not crawling) baby when you're a little uneasy about the floor

Feeding/Burping/Spit Up
Oooh good. I just realized I bought too many receiving blankets and not enough burp cloths and i wasn't sure if I could use the blankets.
Thanks everyone!

Ditto, we have a changing pad but sometimes a receiving blanket is just easier and covers more area, especially for those quick changes in the car.
