Hi, ladies! I haven't been on in a long time due to the baby and going back to work. Thankfully I'm off for summer break now and will try to catch up. I need some advice. Nate and I are traveling (alone) in a few weeks and I'm a little worried. We're going to be flying and I was wondering if anyone has any tricks or suggestions they would like to share? I've read ideas online and I apologize in advance if this post has already been written. My search that I did came back with nothing (although I could have easily done it wrong!).
Anyway, a huge question I have is can I wear the Moby wrap through security and on the plane? I'm flying Southwest (if it varies by airline) and honestly my little man loves the wrap so much that I think it will be the best way to keep him quiet on the trip. He's an ornery little fella at times and he has recently started teething so I'm really concerned about his behavior. The tricks I use to quiet him now won't work on a plane (i.e. looking out the window, etc.) I've heard to feed during take off and landing, but he only eats when he's hungry. I'm not sure that I can force him to eat. Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Re: moby wrap allowed on planes? travel advice needed
I have no idea about the wrap. It probably all depends on the airport and their level of security. Worst case scenario, wear him until you get to security, take him out and remove the wrap if they ask you to, and then put everything back when you're done.
Try a pacifier or a clean knuckle during take-off and landing. They need to suck on something so their ears pop.

When I flew with DS, I had to take the Moby off and fold it up for the screening. We has an umbrella stroller that was easier through the airport (gate checked it) and we had our bags in the basket.
Do you nurse? I nursed on take off and landing and that really helped. I actually brought our boppy for a really long flight and he would nurse and fall asleep on the boppy so I had free hands to read while he slept.
I bought a Moby specifically b/c I was told they were the last baby carrier that could go through security... We flew Memorial Day weekend and security said that rule had changed one month prior (awesome!).
So, sadly, you cannot wear him through security. It was a HUGE pain having to unwrap DD. My Moby got all over the floor. I loved wearing her though, much easier than a stroller. I just wish I had opted for a Bjorn.

Can't wait to meet my baby boy!
Thanks for the advice! I definitely plan on using the pacifier if he will not take the bottle during take off. I'm wondering if they'll let me use the wrap on the plane? I don't mind trying to get him through security without it, but I do worry about his behavior on the plane. When he's wrapped in the moby he doesn't cry and he just snuggles in! I bought an umbrella stroller in hopes that he would be able to sit up well enough in it for me to get through security and to the terminal. However, I've tried to put him in it twice now just to see how he handles it and he has screamed bloody murder both times :-( I still have a few weeks before my trip so maybe he'll get more comfortable with it!
I don't see why not... Wear it as long as you can and then take it all off so they can check you through security. Once you're through security you should be able to put it back on. Kinda like your shoes. They make you take them off so they can check them for hidden weapons, but then you can have them back.
I really can't see why they wouldn't let you use it. People take little blankets along to use on the plane... the moby is no different than a reaaaaally long blanket. And really, if a moby wrap means the difference between a quiet plane ride and a screaming infant no one will argue with its use... in fact, some people might even hold it off the ground for you so it doesn't drag while you tie it back on.

I was told 2 weeks ago I could keep dd in my ring sling through security but would have to be patted down. I took her out.
And FAA rules state you can't wear them on takeoff or landing but some flight attendants either don't notice or look the other way.
