Trying to Get Pregnant

OPKs

Good morning!

This is my first month using OPK tests and I have a quick questions.  I've been testing for a few days and they have all had semi-dark second lines, I would describe them as like half as dark as the test line.  I was honestly expecting my surge either last night or sometime today but last night's test barely had a 2nd line at all.  So, my question: are OPK tests just kinda weird?  Do they not really progressively get darker?  Thanks in advance!

  • It depends on the brand.  I recommend reading the directions.

  • OPKs do not progressively get darker as a rule to use when testing.

Are you using them once or twice a day and what time of day are you using them?

I personally test twice a day - once mid morning and once after supper in the evening.

  • From what I've read from the other girls (this is my first month) it will be as dark as the control line.. no shadow of lines.. it has to be just as dark..

  • Mine didn't get darker when I was closer to O'ing. It got actually progressively lighter and then BAM on day it's a nice dark positive! Maybe your just going to O a little later than usual.

  • Following the directions on the Wondfo, I was not supposed to start until CD14. I used them once a day starting on CD9 and then 2x a day starting on CD12. I got a few that I thought COULD be positive but I still felt like it was a tiny tiny bit lighter so I marked them as negative.

Now, according to FF I did O (dotted CH so its not positive) and I never got a really obvious + with the IC OPKs.

I am using them twice a day so I feel confident that I didn't miss my surge.

Ok, that's so interesting.  I just assumed they will get darker but who knows since everyone is different.  Thanks for your input!
