So all my life I've been obsessed with hearts, I perfected heart drawing when I got my first pencil and paper...This is the only thing comforting me today.
I found out yesterday I have a heart shaped uterus, aka bicornate uterus. While there are various degrees of the heart shape, apparently mine is almost split in two...lovely! I was hoping to find out info, while hoping to not have any info to find out. We already talked about this before even beginning infertility couseling/treatments, and while we are not going to give up trying for our own child...we are however going to start looking into other options.
Thanks ladies for all the advice, encouragement and entertainment the last year!
I'll be still be hanging around, but will probably be mostly lurking again.
IUD removed June '10. CP Sept'10.
Confirmed complete bicornuate uterus June '11.
Re: Obsessed with hearts...
I remember the day I found out that I had a BU. I was so upset. A Bicornuate uterus is not by itself a reason to give up hope. You do need to make sure it was properly diagnosed and is not a septate uterus. They are different and have completely different needs. Many, many women don't even know they have a BU until they have a c-section. Don't be discouraged. I had an 8lb baby girl with zero complications (except she was breech and needed a c-section). It did take us a full year to conceive her, but after a miscarriage, we discovered a blockage in the left horn that the surgeon repaired. Two months later, we had our baby girl.
I was misdiagnosed with my BU 2x even with a1 HSG and an ultrasound. The gold standard in diagnosis is a laparscopy/hysterscopy. I highly recommend you see a reproductive endocrinologist.
I found so much support on the Yahoo groups for Mullerian Anomalies.

You will find lists of doctors, wonderful statistics and a great group of women.
ETA: I think it took us so long to conceive, in part, because we are in our mid-30's.
