Do you read regularly to baby? [Clicky!]

I try to read to Wyatt on a regular basis. More often than not, I have a book handy while he's nursing. Right now, I'm reading him The Eye of the World. It isn't a kid's book, buutttt... I read the series when I was in middle school, and I've wanted to reread it for a while. I figure that the expansive vocabulary can only help. =)[Poll]

I don't really read to her yet, but I tell her fantastic stories everyday

  • SS. We read my college books together, but I've been on break... I'm starting back in about a week and a half, so we'll read together again.

  • We read a story as part of his bedtime routine.

  • I've read books to both my kids multiple times a day since birth. My DD gets read to a lot more, since I read to my older child a lot with her sitting on my lap.

  • We have story time every afternoon around 3pm, right before his late afternoon nap. We curl up in mommy and daddys bed, and we read 3-4 books. He absolutely LOVES reading! His favorites are "My mommy and me", "Guess who? Elmo!" and "Guess how much I love you". Then when I see the yawns coming, we snuggle up and take a little nap together =) Its my favorite part of my day.

  • It's part of our night routine- bath, book, bottle, then bed. He's starting to look at the pictures more now.

  • DS has a pile of books that he adores. He'll sit still on my lap while I read the entire pile (about fifteen books). If I try to introduce a new one? He whines and cries. The cute thing is that he now turns the pages. Love it.

  • We average 1/2 hour of reading a day.  Some days it's 15 minutes, and others 45.  By the end of the month, I make sure we've reached our goal of 1/2 hour a day.  I have a calendar to keep track.

My 10 year old stepson does something similar for school - he keeps a monthly reading log.  That is where I got the idea.
