I think crawling is one of those milestones that some babies hit at 6 months, and others don't hit until 10 months. There's a baby at DD's daycare that scooted and then went straight to walking at 10 months.
DD is starting to get on her hands and knees, but she still can't figure out lifting her body to get mobile. Her strategy right now is to grab onto something on the floor and try to use it to propel herself forward. Either that or she does this stationary turtle crawl. It's funny, but not very efficient.

DD was scooting at 5 months and crawling at 6 months.
DS just rolled over for the first time on Sunday, so he more than likely has a while before he starts crawling. i think it varies.
