Trying to Get Pregnant

Increased heart rate...sign of pregnancy?

I am 10dpo and having increased heart rate. Yesterday (9dpo) i was taking a nap and woke up with my heart feeling like it was pounding out of my chest. Today i sat down on the couch and felt the same increase in my heart rate/pounding. Could this be a early pregnancy sign?

Re: Increased heart rate...sign of pregnancy?

  • I found this on WebMD

Other physical effects that are normal during pregnancy, and not necessarily signs of disease, include nausea, vomiting, increase in abdominal girth, changes in bowel habits, increased urinary frequency, palpitations or more rapid heartbeat, upheaving of the chest (particularly with breathing), heart murmurs, swelling of the ankles, and shortness of breath.

I would assume, though, that these symptoms would not develop immediately. Most likely what you are experiencing is not related to being KU.

  • I would go to the doctor. I have controlled high blood pressure and usually when my heart rate increases like you are mentioning, my readings are high as well. I would call a doctor ASAP. I have never head of that being a pregnancy symptom either...

    IT'S A GIRL

  • I don't think so, at least not in early pregnancy (maybe once you're further along and your heart has to support two bodies).  Sometimes I get pounding in the chest when I'm a little anxious.
  • It could be, but then again I get that when I have wild dreams too..... you won't really know until you get that BFP or BFN.....sorry.

  • If this was a pregnancy symptom I would definitely be KU. I, personally, would not put all of my money on that one symptom.

Sooooo many things can cause an increase in heart rate.  Caffiene, nicotine, stress, anemia, fever, etc.

I get palpitations when I'm anxious or stressed as well. If its sudden and new it wouldn't hurt to ask your doc about it. Don't know of it being a pregnancy symptom either, as PP have said.

I don't believe it's a symptom of early pregnancy. I did experience this when I was pregnant with my daughter, but not until I was further along and she was pushing all of my organs up into my chest and had the added blood flow. Good luck though!

This is actually completely true in my case.  I was having heart palpitations at 8DPO and everyday until my mid-4th week.  My heart rate is definitely more rapid and I noticed this at 10DPO.  I even noted it on FF prior to my BFP!  So it's totally possible... heck, I think ANYTHING is a possible symptom really.

Sounds like run-of-the-mill anxiety to me (especially that it happens when you're at rest), but I'd ask your doctor. You can't be too carefule when it involves your heart. I do not think it's in any way related to being KU.
