big decrease in fetal movement... when to be worried?

Over the past week or so I have had a very large decrease in fetal movement. she moves about half as much as she used to. I used to always feel movement when I first woke up in the morning and right after i would eat a full meal. I havent felt movement the past 4 mornings and I just ate a huge dinner and havent felt her move once in the past half hour. is this normal? when do you call the doctor about something like this?

  • I would call. IMO, I would rather be safe than sorry.

  • That happens as the baby gets more cramped. Have a glass of OJ and lay on your left side for a while. Sparky had a slow day last week and the OJ and laying down did it for me. He picked right back up to his crazy moving self the next day.

  • I would def call in to your doctor and let them decide if you should be seen just to make sure everything is ok.
  • also, should i page the dr on call from my office tonight or should i call L&D and ask their opinion? should i wait till morning?
  • Did you count for "10 kicks an hour" after some water lyin down with food in your stomach?  Thats what mine asked the time I called and I swore the kid moved for the first time all day and the office was completely cool about it.  They say the best way to get movement is too call :) So go ahead and call

  • I would call if you are worried. There was a period where I freaked myself out because I swore he wasn't moving at his regular times and my doctor had no problem having me come in and get hooked up to the monitor. Of course he decided to move nonstop then :)

  • I would call because it will probably decrease your worries.  They might even schedule and US which you will probably like to see your little one in there doing fine!  My Dr. told me that I should expect a decrease in movement once I hit around 34 weeks or so - maybe even a little before that because of the space inside there!

I'm sure your LO is a-ok, but sometimes just a simple call to the doc will make you feel so much better.
