What do you freeze your baby food in?

I currently have the Beaba trays but I also want ice cube trays for smaller portions.  I've read not so great reviews on the silicone and the harder plastic.  What do you freeze your homemade baby food in?  Specific brands that are good?

  • I just use regular old ice cube trays that are bpa free.  I wrap them in Saran wrap.  The next day I take them out & put them in a freezer bag.

  • This. I started putting the bags in tubber wear containers in the freezer for a little extra protection from freezer burn, because I'm a ditz don't remove the air from the bag sometimes. But I've made a bunch with just ice cube trays and LOVE it!

  • I use the ice cube trays I've owned forever. I couldn't begin to say where they're from or what brand they are. Really, whatever is cheapest is just fine (BPA free, of course).

Did this with my first and plan on this again.

  • I have some 2oz cup like things with lids from babies r us. They work out but you can't pop the food out of it. So I just use ice cube trays now and stick them in freezer bags. WAY easier and cheaper.

  • I'm the odd one out here - I use these by Wilton (brownie bite molds).

I love that it makes smaller portions - about 1/2 an ounce - so it defrosts faster and when we're trying something new I can start with a small amount.  I also like the silicon for popping it out - super easy.

  • I bought two of the Oxo Baby Food Freezer trays. They are great! Once frozen, I transfer into gallon freezer bags.

  • With # 1, I froze most of it in ice cube trays, but filled a few Baby Cubes of each type of food I made.  They were really convenient for when we went out to eat or traveled.

  • Ice cube trays is what we use. Cover with saran wrap and then once they are frozen empty into a freezer bag.

I have the Oxo baby food trays w/ lids...they look like ice cube trays.  I used them for the first time last night and over filled the one...the food was hard to pop out and I had to use a fork.  The other tray that I didn't over fill came out pretty easily.

  • As others have said, a regular BPA-free ice cube tray sealed with Press and Seal plastic wrap or whatever it's called. When the cubes are frozen, they get dumped into a labeled freezer bag with the date made and use by date.
