Moms of boys

When you did PT, did it seem like they were peeing little spurts every 5 minutes?

Derek starts peeing every 5-15 minutes (no exaggeration) in his underwear. If we catch him in time, he'll finish on the potty. He seems to stay dry during nap and bedtime since we cut off drinks prior to both. But during the day it doesn't seem like he's able to hold it more than the 5-15 min. Is this normal in the beginning of PT?

Re: Moms of boys

  • Don't have a boy, obviously, but Abigail was doing that at first. Luckily she would tell me when she had to go, but as soon as she left the bathroom, she'd tell me she had to go again. Sure enough, she did!

  • Boys in general are not as quick to get the whole potty training thing as girls. And if you push them when they are not ready it can take longer. Trust me, this happened to me. Elliott finally got it around 3 years 4 months or so.

My little girl was potty trained by 2.5 so almost a year difference. Plus my son resisted and she did not. When they are ready they are ready and it will finally click.

Good luck, wish I was more help.
