I am getting ready to create my registry at BRU. Is there any benefit to creating one in-store as opposed to creating one online? I guess I'm just afraid I'll miss out on some sort of cool in-store freebie that I don't know about.
I did mine on-line because the selection is way larger than what is in the stores. Although it means your guests will have to order some of your gifts that aren't available in stores. Most people are comfortable purchasing online these days so it didn't seem to me to be a problem.
I have waited to register for clothes, towels, blankets, things that will go out of stock when the season ends and will consider registering for these in-store when my baby shower gets closer just to make sure people can buy what they want for baby.
The only benefit I really saw was just something I learned from doing my wedding registry online. Where I am, a lot of the stuff online is not carried in the store. Most people, in my experience for showers, tend to be last minute buyers or just may not want to order online...so it's hard for them to shop.
I opted to go into the store so that I could make sure that the majority of the stuff we wanted was available in our local store to make it easier for my friends and family.
Other than that, I think I also got a bag of coupons too. However, most of mine were expired...so I'm not really sure what the deal was with that!

I did mine in-store because we received a flyer for a $10 gift card if you created your registry in-store. That was the only benefit though.
I got the GC and 2 bottles.
I also want to add that registering for specific clothes, from my experience, is a complete fail. Even I had trouble finding something I had registered for. Things get moved, tags get changed. Ugh, it was so frustrating and I had a few friends say the same thing when they tried to by for me. Just keep in mid that if they show up with the wrong clothes you can always exchange. lol

We started ours in the store but fixed and added stuff online. I liked starting in the store because they had good advice and hints, we also got a gift bag with coupons and Advent bottle and some other literature. I have since gone on and added stuff only available online and things I forgot or had to think about. This also gives people the option of ordering stuff online or going to the store.
We did it in the store first but when I went to 'clean it up' online (because honestly, I didn't need 100 items), I realized that a lot of our bigger items had terrible reviews. So a lot of them got switched to online items that could be picked up in store.
We started in the store and then tweaked and updated online. I am visual, so it helped me to see the stuff and look at the comparisons. Then I made some choices. They give you a little packet with lots of coupons if you do it in the store...that's one of the only perks.
We started in the store too, because we wanted to see things in person rather than just in photos online. It was also very helpful to be in-store for registering for the travel system, since we were able to feel how heavy each one we liked was and push them all around.
I also liked some things that I saw in the store that didn't catch my eye while searching online. Seeing things in person was definitely helpful for us.
I started mine online and then went into the store. I did not get a packet of coupons or any freebies. However, I did save myself a headache and the overwhelmed feeling I get in the store. The selection online was much better, I could search through reviews and take my time. If you do your registry online, it will tell you if the item is available in stores or not.
One biggie we discovered is that returns for items that are sold online only can be a huge PITA. Unless it's changed, if something is purchased that is online only, it can't be returned to the store, it must be shipped back. We tried to return a stroller to the store that had been purchased online and they were actually pretty rude to us about how that merchandise didn't belong in their store.
I hate BRU. But there are so few choices for baby stuff.

I have registered online and haven't been to the store at all. But I did get a call from them that they have a gift bag for me to pick up. I preferred to start it online because I thought I'd be too overwhelmed going into the store.

Ditto this. And I brought my gf with me who has three children and gave her the GC to use that morning as a TY and then bought her lunch. I personally like to see the things in person, so going IRL vs. online was important to me.
