Set of Sextuplets about to be born at my OB! (xp from PAIF)

Sorry if this is skewed a little more toward IF, but I just XP my post from PAIF:

Pure craziness, but my OB just shared on FB that they are going to be delivering a set of sextuplets (5 girls, 1 boy) in the next week or so!  I can't even imagine.  She did IUI but it didn't specify oral or injects.

I had some problems with the article (as usual) and especially her last paragraph.  She is in for a serious wake-up call!  Her biggest worry is the pain following surgery??  Umm, how about you be concerned for your children's LIVES?!?!  And saying they won't have to worry right now about the changes b/c they'll be in the NICU for a month.  Umm, sure, probably way longer than a month if you're delivering 10-12 weeks early!  It just came across really bad to me.

I wish them lots of luck!  They're going to need all the good thoughts and prayers they can get!  They live in one of the poorest counties in the country, with her husband working as a mechanic now supporting a family of 9 (they have one son already).  I'm sure donations will be pouring in, but wow... quite the financial stress on that dad.

  • Wow, that is crazy! I hope the babies do well. I thought it was unusual when I was in labor and heard my OB talking about my practice delivering triplets that day!

  • That is crazy...I can't imagine!

I will say that there are many things in that article that just seem "off" for this mom.  It is time to get her priorities straight...especially the part about waiting another week to deliver, if she can because she is miserable.  Boohoo...do it for your babies!

Seriously!  So many things just seemed off about her, I am *hoping* it was bad editing that made things she said sound worse than she meant them.  I can't imagine your biggest fear being pain after surgery??  How about your babies' LIVES?!  Or that she's not worried about the transition b/c they'll be in the NICU for a month.  Well, that in and of itself will be a huge life transition... you are having 6 new babies after all even if they won't come home right away.  Plus they'll likely be there for several months, and there's no guarantee that they'll all make it.  It was just crazy to read some of her statements.  Reeeeally hoping she didn't mean it the way it came across!

  • Wow!! Going through IUI myself, I cannot imagine how this happens. I know eggs can split and all but how many mature follies did she have before the did the IUI??? One has to wonder.

Good luck to them, they are going to need it!!
