You might get more replies from the 1st Tri board since a lot of the girls on here are trying for #1. I'll cross the bridge of how to tell once we're actually pregnant.
We haven't told our families that we are TTC yet. We'd like to wait until our BFP. I really kind of want to avoid the "So... did you O yet? Did you BD then? Do you think your pregnant" questions. We'll just give them the good news when we get it.
I actually think about this all the time lol.. My MIL is divorced and my hubbs is an only child.. the only thing in the world she wants is a grand child.. We talked about it before and she loves her Pandora Bracelet.. we always said we would tell her by giving her a charm that says grandmother For my parents.. they live about 4 hours away.. but I definitely want to tell them in person... Not quite sure how though yet...

Hi there, I am also new to the boards! There are so many special ways to spill the beans about your pregnancy! The Bump even has a section where people put their ideas:
We told our parents very early with all of my pregnancies (even the one I had a miscarriage). My thought was even if something went wrong with the pregnancy, I would want the support of my family. I did not tell work until I was 12 weeks (after the NT Screening ultrasound) though.
Good luck to you!

My mom and I both enjoy researching family history. I bought a little bird's nest from the craft store, put a little egg in it and set it on a decorative twig. I gave it to her and she immediately figured out the "new twig on the family tree". I did the same thing for my ILs but I had to explain that it was a new twig on the family tree. Then my FIL got it but my MIL still didn't.

Love the Pandora charm idea!
With #1, we didn't do anything creative - just called our families. (Both live out of state.)
My sister told us she was pregnant by giving my daughter a t-shirt that says "Big Cousin to Be." We plan on telling people we're pregnant with #2 by having our daughter wear a Big Sister t-shirt.
Oh, and when we first started TTC, it was in October so we bought little grandma and grandpa ornaments to have on hand, JIC we could announce a pregnancy at Christmas. That didn't work out for us so I put them away and Baby Bee gave them the ornaments last year. ;-)

All of this. We have some ideas, but we will see what happens when it happens.

MEH! I'm too busy trying to get KU to think about how to tell them WHEN I'm KU.
I won't have to think too hard with my mother. She will know as soon as I say no to a glass of wine at dinner.
I'm most worried about her reaction. When I stopped BCP her first words were "I hope you are using some other form of protection". She has issues with anything that is not her idea... Could be interesting giving the news! I think I'm the only person here that is stressing about it instead of being excited about telling.

I got around that with friends a lot by saying "2 ww" whenever one of them asked if I was pregnant if I passed on the wine. By the time I actually *was* pregnant, they were so used to it that no one asked. ;-)

With DD, we got a baby picture frame for each of our parents and sisters. I printed up a little sign that said "Picture due to arrive in October 2008". We wrapped them up and had them open them together. We told our parents and sisters right away - got the BFP on a Tuesday, told them that weekend.
This time, I plan on putting DD in a Big Sister shirt and just waiting to see how long it takes for someone to catch on!

I don't know. I'd like to wait until 8 or 9 weeks at the earliest but I'll have to hide DH's phone from him in order for him not to tell his mom. lol With my parents, probably the big sib t-shirt for DS.
The first time we put a picture of the two of us in a baby photo frame and gave it to them.

This! I really want to think of something more special for my next child, especially since it will be my final baby!
