Toddlers: 24 Months+

Anyone's DD still not have a full head of hair?

I keep telling myself her hair will come in, and everyone tells me once it starts to come in it'll just grow so fast, but DD still has some pretty large areas where there still isn't any hair growing.  She almost has it growing in a mohawk pattern...if that makes any sense.

Still no growth at the nape of her neck, although the hair she does have (which isn't much) covers this up, and she still doesn't have any growth in the front on either side...it's almost like a very extreme widow's peak in the front, where it doesn't necessarily grow in a point way down on her forehead, but she doesn't have any hair on either side...kind of like a Mickey Mouse pattern...ha.

It doesn't really bother me much, of course I'd like to do pigtails or something and that's out of the question for us, but does it seem odd?

  • At 18 months my DD still had the shortest hair, from behind she looked like a boy. She had bald patches at your DD's age as well. For her 2 year pictures she had pig tails. She will be 3 next month and her hair is down to the middle of her back. I clipped cute little bows or used head bands until her hair grew.

  • My blond twin was bald at her first birthday, barely peach fuzz. At her second birthday she did have hair, but it was very sparse. She will be 3 in a couple of weeks and it still doesn't even touch her shoulders and is very thin. But I will say I did notice a lot more hair growth from 2 1/2 to 3 years. When I look at pics from her second birthday and then look at her now, she does have a lot more hair. Of course she has no where near the hair that her twin (the brunette) has.

I think you will see a lot of hair growth during this year for her, she still will probably not have a long thick mane of hair like some 3 year olds, but she will have more filled in hair by her 3rd birthday.

  • My neice barely had any hair at 2 as well.  It grew in but was thin until a good 3.5 I'd say.  Now at 5 she has a beautiful head of hair.  Hang in there, it's coming, I'm sure!

  • I have a friend who's daughter just turned 4.  Her hair is still very thin and very short.  She didn't really start getting hair (more than just peach fuzz) until this last year and even now she looks like my DD did at around 12-15 months.

  • I'm sure my daughter will be like that, as well!  I had really thin, white blonde hair that couldn't take a ponytail or barrettes until I was about 4.  DD is 16.5 months and still gets comments about being a "baldy".  She's not bald, she does have a covering of fuzzy light blonde hair and a little length at the back, but she won't be doing ponies by 2, I'm sure of that.

I have a friend who has a DD like this as well.  I think there's no way of really knowing.
