The boys go to an in home daycare 3 days a week. Last week, dcp's mother passed away at the beginning of the week and she took the remainder of the week off. The wake was Friday and funeral was Saturday.
There is one other child that goes to the daycare (plus 2 of her own) and I know that her mom is dropping her off today. I haven't heard from the daycare provider asking for more time off. I did send her an email telling her that if she needs more time that she should take it and to just let us know when she is ready to have the boys back, but I haven't heard from her at all.
My husband thinks we should keep the boys home this week (I am a teacher and just got out of school). I was going to send them to dc today because I know that the other child is going today and I haven't heard from the dcp requesting more time (which is what she normally does). If I keep the boys home I will have to reschedule dr & dentist appointments that I have scheduled for myself.
I totally sound selfish- but do I send the to dc?

I would if she didn't ask for more time. Some people like to keep busy when they can after a loss so they aren't just sitting there and mourning. I would even bet that the energy and innocence of young children make the whole mourning process easier to deal with.
And do not feel guilty. I plan my vacations with a few extra "mommy days" at the end when I do send DD to daycare so I can get some stuff done by myself and for myself. Sometime they are better off at daycare.
