The u/s showed a getational sac and a yolk sac, but no fetal pole. I could definitely be a week behind because my cycles are long (average 32-35 days but range from 29-44 days).
I'm just really discouraged. And sad. And mad.
ETA: I got a positive test on June 14th, day 32 of my cycles. What are the chances of getting a BFP mid-day 10dpo? Not likely. I am so bummed.
ETA ETA: We had sex on days 16, 17, 20, 21, and 22. Even if it was day 22 that did the trick I'd be 5 weeks 1 day, right? Is it normal to not see a fetal pole then? I feel sick to my stomach with a mixture of worry, sadness and dread. This freakin sucks. And I was right to be annoyed that my aunt came with me. She asked me 9 million questions on the way home. So irritating.

How many weeks are you?
You never know - when do you go back for another u/s?
I don't know when they want me to come back in. My betas were 8588 on Friday evening and they re-drew them today right before my u/s. So we'll see. The u/s tech said they'd probably want me to come in next week, so maybe they'll call me tomorrow?
When I originally called about the spotting they said they made me an appoinment for tomorrow at 8:30am and if my u/s went good and I didn't want to come in then I would cancel it. I don't want to take time off to go to an appointment for them to tell me, "Yeah we have no idea. It could be right on track or you could be miscarrying" like the u/s tech did.
Should I even keep the appointment? Should I call the nurse line to ask?
FWIW I got my BFP at night 9dpo. Thoughts and prayers going out to you!
I haven't read the other replies but I got my BFP at 9 dpo in the middle of the day so it is possible. I hope your dates are just off and all is well. Hugs, and thoughts/prayers your way.
Good luck! I hope it turns out you're just a week behind, like the doctor said! *hugs*
And it's totally possible to get a BFP 10DPO; I got mine 11DPO, but I didn't try testing earlier (nervous about it!).
When do you get to go back for another checkup??

::lurking from January::
totally likely!
at 10DPO, i tested with FMU, and it was stark negative, totally white. something told me to test again after work, and it was positive and that was at 5:30PM!
second question, it would be totally normal not to see a fetal pole at that point. it's REALLY early. don't give up hope yet! you have a yolk sac, which is a good sign!

Yes you can get a positive that early and Yes, it's perfectly fine to not see a fetal pole at 5w1d. Fetal pole should be present by 5w4d (I've been keeping track- I go in for my first u/s at 5w5d- I do know my date of fertilization given IVF- and I'm trying to keep my expectations low) and Yes those 3 days will make a lot of difference. Absolutely still hope!

OK. So, I JUST went thru something very similar. Got a positive test on May 24. My husband and I had only Seen each other on the 9th (bc of work and my son and I went out of town, etc).
On the 27th, I spotted and was sent to ER bc I've m/c before. The tech saw NOTHING and my HCG was ONLY 54. He pretty much told me no hope, but too soon to call it. I got my levels checked 400 times over the next week, and it doubled appropriately.
So they did another U/S at what I thought was around 6 weeks. This time, they DID see a sac and yolk measuring only 4 weeks(which I knew to be impossible), no heartbeat and no baby- just the yolk and sac. ;0( I was LOSING IT sad. They said I could come BACK in, in a week or two. My choice. Well, after being told "I dunno" the last two times, I decided to wait two MISERABLE weeks.
When I went in, the tech not ONLY found baby and heartbeat, but after I "adjusted" for her, she got an actual decent measurement- at 7 weeks 4 days. EXACTly where I was supposed to be ;0) The other times, it was all just too early to get proper measurements. And yours was around the same time as my 2nd was. Which, btw, when my doc saw a yolk, she was like, "OH! Okay..." (as in relief) and said that was a really good sign. I also have long, sometimes random cycles. Remember, at 5 weeks, that baby is so tiny, it's called a fetal pole! Each baby, mama, machine and tech are different! I hope baby is well and good and I'll pray for ya'll!!!!
