If your LO takes reflux meds, pls come in

DS developed reflux around 6 mos old. We started on Zantac, but it did not help much with his projectile vomiting during feeds. We started Prilosec liquid a month ago. It has helped tremendously - he's only puked once and that was b/c he gagged on a piece of food. He is, however, having 4-6 dirty diapers a day. Every day. Which then leads to horrible, broken skin diaper rash. DD is eating the same things (minus the meds) and regularly has 1-3 dirty diapers a day. I just keep thinking that 6 a day can't be normal. He was already losing weight from the reflux vomiting, and now I'm worried the pooping is contributing to that. He has not gained weight in over 2 months now. He also seems to have zero appetite - ever. I always feel like I'm having to encourage him to eat (we're doing 3 bottles & 3 solid meals a day).

Just wondering if any of your LO's experienced more frequent dirty diapers on the reflux meds. Also, someone mentioned that berry flavorings, if they're added to the meds, can cause issues? His has raspberry flavor.

I would call the Dr., that doesn't sound right to me. maybe there is a better med for him. We are on Prevacid but we have not begun solids or anything yet and my DS never had projectile issues - he has silent reflux so I don't really have any advice on the medicine, it just seems like too many diapers for his age.

That doesn't sound right. My son started Axid at 8 months (he had silent reflux, so it was tough to dx), and he had no reaction or an increase in dirty diapers.

DS was on Prilosec for a while and we never had this issue. I would put a call in to the pedi just to check in about the symptoms.
