HUGE mommy guilt today (poop related)

Emme has had some REALLY bad diapers since Saturday night. She had her first ever blowout in my car while we were driving back from the bay area. I mean it was nasty, yellow, running, and STINKY! Sunday morning I changed her diaper no less than 3 times within 2 hours and they looked much the same as the one Saturday night. Then last night DH changed her diaper twice within 20 mins and both times had to change her clothes as well because it was THAT bad.

This morning I woke her up and it was ALL over her, up to her armpits and all over her back and front. DH had to give her a quick bath before dressing her for school. She was crying to me, "No mommy, no go! no go work!" as I was trying to leave. I wanted to just stay and cuddle with her all day but I had to leave.

I told DH to tell her school if she goes through all 4 of her outfits today or if the diapers get worse then they can call me. I am waiting for a call from the advice nurse to see if I should bring her in to see her pedi. I feel soooo guilty that I had to come to work instead of just saying, "I will stay home."

Oh poor baby. I would think that you shouldn't have taken her to school at all because that many really bad poopy diapers is a sign of a tummy bug. Is there any way one of you can go pick her up?
Poor baby for sure....I can relate to having an upset tummy.  I would probably have kept her home too. :(  (Not to add to the guilt though!  Just offering some friendly mom-advice).

Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

  • She didn't have any fever which makes me think it might be teething related. I can pick her up if necessary. I am on some MAJOR deadlines for end of month accounting though so I am trying to get as much done this morning as possible so I can get her at lunch.

A mom at T's daycare brought her little girl in two weeks ago with what she thought was teething related diarrhea. By the end of the week, T, E and I were all throwing up and having diarrhea. Just saying that there's a nasty tummy bug going around, so don't be surprised if it's not teething related. Honestly, I'm surprised that your daycare or our daycare would take a kid that's been having that many poopy diapers.

I hope that she's feeling better soon and that you're able to pick her up asap.

  • Poor girl! I hope it's just teething and not the flu. Maybe give her some pedialyte or extra fluids when you pick her up so she doesn't get dehydrated. I hope you're productive in the morning and can pick her up at lunch!
