Success after IUI?

Hi Ladies-

I am a sporadic poster/mostly lurker on the TTTC board and just recently started reading this board looking for positive thoughts and inspiration.

I just did my first IUI this month and got a BFN today. Since I'm feeling a little down, I was wondering if you can tell me if you got PG via IUI, and if so, how many rounds did it take you.

My story I think is a little unique as each time I had an IUI I got a BFP (its what happened after the fact that has been unfortunate) except for this last IUI worked for us! Keep the faith, some times it takes more than once, or even twice to stick! I'm sorry about your BFN, good luck with your treatments!!

Pregnant after our 3rd IUI, but that was after failed IVF cycles so I never thought it would work, and it did !!

We got pregnant on our 2nd IUI (after being told that IVF was our only option).

Keep your chin up! My RE told me it is very rare that someone gets pregnant on their 1st IUI. She said it often takes 2-3 IUIs for it to work (for whatever reason). Keep the faith. You WILL get your sticky baby.

I got pregnant after my third IUI but had a m/c at 9 weeks. I am not pregnant again after my fourth IUI. Hang in there! Have you had an HSG? I had one after my 2nd IUI and we realized that my right tube might be blocked and so far I had only been producing follicles on my right. After that we changed my protocol a little and the left ovary started producing and that's when I got my BFP both times.

I got PG after IUI#1. Got my BFP at 15dpiui. I also started acupuncture just before this successful cycle, not sure if that has anything to do with it, but I am not stopping anytime soon.

This is our first pregnancy and it resulted after our second IUI. I am annovulatory and as far as we can tell that was the only issue. Femara and IUI worked for us this cycle, but my first IUI actually looked more promising. I was sure this month wouldn't have worked, and then I POAS and there it was. I know IF is terribly frustrating, and I am very newly pregnant so I am cautiously telling you to keep hope and trust your doctors. If you don't trust them, find one you will. A good one will have your best interests at heart and be there when you have your bad days. Every woman is different, what worked for one may not work for another. But IUI's do work, I am proof. Thank goodness, we couldn't afford IVF. Good luck to you and I pray that you get your BFP soon!

We got pg on our third IUI with Femara. It was also the same cycle as my HSG and I think that had a lot to do with our success.

I felt the same way you are now. While TTC I came over here looking for success stories because I had a hard time believing that the same protocol would work for us after it failed before. Try to stay positive and good luck to you!

Yep- I've had the HSG and everything checks out. My diagnosis is PCOS and I don't tend to ovulate regularly without medicine. Luckily, since I've been on Clomid, I have been a lot more regular. I had high hopes that the IUI would work the first time because I had good follies and a good sperm sample, but for whatever reason it just didn't. Thanks for your encouraging words. Here's hoping #2 is the one!

We had luck on our 3rd IUI with femara. Don't lose hope, it gets VERY frustrating but all these ladies here are proof to stay strong and keep going!

I love telling PCOS-er's that it will happen! I was getting frustrated during my first 17 months of trying but it happened for me. You can see what I did in my siggy or Blog Link.

iui 1-4 were BFN. iui#4 b2b with injects (follistim) was a BFP but was a chemical pregnancy... #5 b2b with injects again got us our final BFP!!

We are one of the extremely lucky ones to get pg on IUI #1. We were shocked since they were straight forward about it taking several times. We were unexplained, and I had a good response to the lowest dose of clomid - so that's probably a big factor as well. Good luck to you!

I'm so sorry about your BFN. I know how frustrating it is. I was diagnosed with unexplained IF and tried multiple medicated rounds with Clomid and Femara and TI. I got pregnant after my first IUI with Femara+Follistim, (along with acupuncture for several months prior to my IUI.) I was shocked to say the least.

I hope this next cycle is the one for you!

got prego on first clomid+IUI, m/c at 7 weeks. Then had a femara+IUI cycle=BFN. Then, first injectables( Follistim)+IUI=now 16w prego. GL!

It took 5 IUI's for us to get pg with DD.

When TTC #2 we did an IUI, which didn't work but then got pg. on our own the very next month.

My doctor is recommding IUI, unmedicated. He said that since I already ovulate on my own, medication won't really increase my chances. Anyone have luck with an unmedicated IUI?
