I had it once right before I got pregnant. It reduced the hair in my underarms about 50% from one treatment. I also had it on my bikini line & it seemed to make it a bit less but not nearly as noticeable as the underarms.
I will say it REALLY hurts, but it's also super quick so the pain is just for a short period of time. I'd recommend taking advil prior & putting ice in plastic bags on the area you will be getting it done on the car ride on the way there.
I plan to resume it shortly. My mom said it took about 3 treatments to eliminate her underarm hair & about 7 to completely eliminate the hair on her bikini line where she wanted it gone.
Thanks! I did read it hurts but I'm so sick of waxing. So are all laser centers the same or is there a difference in technology?
There is definitely a difference in technology. When I researched a while back - I read that a LightSheer Diode didn't work as well as an Alexandrite. But I am not sure what changes have been made in the last few years. My underarms were really painful so I think I only did about 4 treatments but they look so much better and just shave the few that pop up - so much smoother than shaving alone.
I bought a groupon (for $120) for my underarms and then paid another $500 for bikini--6 treatments total. I had one treatment at the end of May before I got pregnant. I will not do anymore treatments until after this LO is born and finished bf-ing.
As others have said, it does hurt, but I thought it was pretty comparable to waxing (only quicker). The best comparison I can think of is taking a rubber band, pulling it really taut and snapping it against your skin. About a week after the treatment the "dead" hair pushed through the surface of the skin and fell out. It's been a month and I've yet to see anything grow back in on my underarms; my bikini area is starting to get a few stray hairs. So far, I'm pleased with it, but obviously I can't speak to the long term effects.
I will say that I would research and make sure you find a place that has been around for a while and seems very reputable. I'm doing it through a laser center that's been open since the early 90's. There are so many laser hair/med spa places that open and then go out of business very quickly; I wouldn't want to be stuck with a package I couldn't see through.

How many sessions did you get under the Groupon for your under arms?
Thanks for the advice - I'll definitely try to find one that's been around for a while.

I'm not sure - I've seen Groupons in the past for laser hair removal treatments so I'm going to wait and see if I come across one.
