So if my baby doesn't have teeth, can she have cheerios? And what are these mum mums everyone writes about? Do they dissolve in her mouth? Will the cheerios? she just turned 8 months and i'm making her purees.
Yes she can. Their gums can chew pretty good. DD only has 4 bottom teeth and gets finger foods, we never did purees. She has been getting finger foods and puffs (which are like cheerios) since 6 1/2 months. If you are curious, look up baby led weaning.
Yes, but I would start on the "puffs" first because they melt in their mouth, so it's a good intro for them to try feeding themselves something and experiencing something other than a puree. They have the work out the "chewing/gumming" thing a bit to start. I've also heard to soak the Cheerios for a bit to soften them when first trying them out. I started the puffs a few weeks ago, and just tried dry Cheerios a few days ago (DS is 8 mo + 1 week, and only just got 2 bottom teeth in past couple weeks) and he did fine with them.
