Appt Update & Fifth Disease!!

Morning everyone.

Thanks again for your support this morning. I went to the OB and had a nervous breakdown waiting for him to come in. He was so nice to me, remembering the last time we met was in the OR for my D&C. He did a quick internal and used the doppler - we have a heartbeat! So, so far my LO is alive and well. I'm so relieved. NT scan next week...

But get this -

I"m on the table waiting for the Dr,. and my phone rings - it's my school calling. I answer it because I'm worried that my supply teacher (substitute) hasn't shown up or something. Instead it's my school secretary calling to tell me that we have a case of Fifth Disease in the school, and the kid's been at school for two weeks during the incubation period, so who knows who it's spread to!

So here I am, in the last three days of school, with a million things to do, special events, a class party this afternoon, a huge celebration with parents on Wednesday, etc... and I am not allowed to go to school! My dr sent me for a blood test to see if I've contracted it or have antibodies.

But my baby has a heartbeat!

I'm glad your appt went well! Hopefully you already have the antibodies for 5ths and won't have to worry about it.

Hooray for a heartbeat and a good appt! That stinks about school though, extra stress is definitely not needed right now!

What day is your NT scan? I have mine next Weds, so psyched to get to see lo! I heard the hb last Friday at my appt and it was awesome but I'm looking forward to the u/s!

Congrats on the great news about your LO!

Hopefully, you have the antibodies to Fifth's Disease and now have immunity. I got it while working with kids a few years ago and my ob said it's a good thing since now I can't get it again.

Awesome news about the HB!!! YAY! I had a case of fifth's in my school and thankfully, I tested negative both times they drew my blood. I'm sorry you can't be at school for all of the end of the year celebrations. I got very sick at Christmas time and missed all of the events, so I know how torn you are. Bottom line, you and your baby is most important. School will continue to go on. That's what I told myself and everything went well.

My NT scan is next Tuesday afternoon. I am scared as hell, once again, but also really excited to see LO! Good luck with your u/s on Wednesday!

I'm sorry it was such a tough morning. I totally understand that release of emotions. So happy that you got to hear LO's heartbeat. Keep growing strong!! FX that your test comes back negative for Fifth Disease -- just adding another thing to your plate!

Well.... school ends on Wednesday and I have this huge event in my classroom. So, my principal has told me to stay home until then. I guess I will. I can't believe the timing! But my priority is a healthy baby, so I guess I will do that.

I'm so glad that you had a great appt! I swear, I hold my breath every time they bring out the ultrasound. That's a huge bummer about Fifths and that it's seriously crimping your end of year plans - not to mention cauing you extra worry - I hope your b/w comes out fine and GL at your appt next week!
