So... my retrieval was scheduled for this AM. (again - for a research study, not TTC)

Guess what... No egg.

Apparently my follie jumped the trigger and had already released.

We've been having unprotected sex. A LOT of it.

I can't even bring myself to tell DH. We're going out tonight for our anniversary and I just don't want this hanging over us.

I'm gonna be sweating big time for the next 2 weeks.

God help me if I'm KU'd. I really don't think I have it in me to handle another dead baby and that's the only kind I make these days.

I guess no good deed goes unpunished, huh?

So if you've got any "no 2 lines" vibes to spare I would really appreciate them.

Also... I hate to ask the age old question but how many days past a 10,000 unit trigger would a test be accurate? 10 days, right? So if I test 12 days post trigger I should finally be able to relax, right?

I mean... the chances of an umedicated conception over 40 is what? Maybe 3-5% each cycle, right?

So it's nearly impossible that this could end badly.

However... we had 2 unmedicated (and totally non-viable) pregnancies just 2 years ago...

3-5%.

That's NOTHIN' to be worried about, right?

GAH!!!

I feel sick.

I can't keep this from DH but I also don't want to freak him out unnecessarily.

I really really think you will be just fine! I know its scary but you had NO idea your body would do that, its not your fault don't beat yourself up over it! Praying for BFN for you sweetie!

You gotta tell him (isn't he going to ask about the retreival anyway?) Actually, my DH probably wouldn't put two and two together if I just told him that there was no egg - will yours immediately think about all the sex = possible pg and go to freak out mode?

Ugg...I feel for you - especially since you're supposed to be out celebrating tonight. It could be just me, but I'd still probably tell him b/c (I have a horrible time keeping things from my hubby, even if it is in the best interest of all parties!) GL

Oh crap... What are the odds. Oh hon, I don't blame you for freaking out! Hoping the odds here play in your favor and all the worry is for nothing. As for your DH... I would have to tell. Yes, my DH would likely freak out, but that is a burden I know he would want to bear with me. Whether you tell before or after your night out tonight, that is your call based on how good your poker face is and how much YOU will enjoy it if you know and he doesn't. Hang in there lady. May these two weeks go by quickly!

Sending lots of NOT PREGNANT dust to you.... I always tested out the trigger, and it was by about 8 or 9 days. You should be safe at 10 days past.

You can take Plan B (morning after pill up to 72 hrs after unprotected intercourse). So if it's within your belief system and it's been less than 72hrs, go for it and don't stress. It's available w/o a prescription noe, although you do have to ask a pharmacist, an they can refuse to give it to you for their own moral standpoint (in which case you ask for another pharmacist).

Sadly after a busy weekend I didn't see it until we were past the 72 hours after last unprotected sex window.

I wonder why they didn't mention this at the clinic? I was very visibly shaken and seriously exclaimed that we'd had unprotected sex because there wasn't supposed to be an egg left to fertilize.

I guess their experience with women over 40 is that it's really not a concern and you're more likely to be hit by lightning, right?

Oh well..
