This is a really dumb argument (if you want to call it that) dh and I had today. We drove to Indy if it helps put a context to it.
Anyway, we live in Eastgate. We have 2 options to get to I-74.
Option 1: Drive north on 275, stay in Ohio, get to 74.
Option 2: Drive south on 275, get on 471, then take 75 to 74.
I called option 2 "going through Kentucky."
So when DH and I left this morning, I told him the fastest route was to "go through Kentucky." Off we went... south on 275. As we approached 471, I said to him, "aren't we taking 471" and we proceeded to have this debate...
According to dh, "going through Kentucky" is not taking 471. Instead, it is going around the 275 loop and staying in Kentucky longer. Taking 471 is "cutting through Kentucky". I say either way you've "gone through KY" so what difference does it make?
What do you think? I told you this was a silly debate.
Re: NBR: Help settle a silly debate....
To get to Eastgate, we sometimes take 71 to 471 to 275. We call that "going through Kentucky", so the reverse route would also be true, right?
Why do men always have to argue over semantics?
I agree with you.
I have to laugh, because we have this debate, too, right down to the timing of each route. Mine consistently comes up quicker, but there's always an excuse
Kel, I agree with you.

FYI - if you're staying on the loop the mileage is less from 275 thru KY to 74 (starting at Eastgate). But... right now there's construction in several areas that direction so traffic tends to be slow, especially at night (they're trying to schedule most of the work at night).
No idea of any construction on the north side.
Not that any of that info matters now though. It's just that my aunt lives in Indiana, and my parents live on the east side, so we drove that path a lot when I was growing up, and from my parents' exit, the mileage is almost identical north vs south, so Dad always checked the construction reports to decide which way to go.
@kyfirewife, I think this is where dh's stance lies. He drives to Lawrenceburg and back one day/week, so for him that's "going through KY"
Oh, and to skyllingsstadl: He would absolutely not take Rt 1 to get to Lawrenceburg. According to him it's too long, windy and slow.
Thank you ladies for laughing with me about our silly debate.
From Madeira?!
This is true. Stupid rich people, ruining my life...
Kel - we always go your way; however, we refer to that route as "cutting through town."
